It happened, my 2018 ecodiesel engine blown up

I have 120K on mine and need to be aware.
After using a good internal engine cleaner, drop the oil pan, clean the oil pick up thoroughly, and then do it again. Lots of oil gunk buildup. I have 203,000 and still going strong.

I have one more example of a 2018 engine failure. My truck had 82k miles on it. I also maintained the oil well. 4 oil changes in just under 2 years. I noticed some vibrations intermittently (once every week or two). I took it in a year ago under warranty. They couldn't find anything, but I suspect they didn't actually drive it very far. Over this last weekend it started vibrating and then the engine made some knocking sounds and a 0 oil pressure light went on. I pulled over immediately but I guess the damage was already done? Haven't heard from my mechanic what the exact issue was.

Jesus also made a whip and drove out the thieves that were robbing people that were scarifying at the temple. Called them cave robbers.. IMO, VM Motori new darn well the shorting comings of the 3.0, Yet Fiat still released that motor on American Soil.

Biodiesel, NOT that I'm against deleting ,but how many of those 510k miles were made deleted? Thier are Ford 6.0s still on the road but the (Greater) majority of those engines had reliability issues plus repairs, cost to keep them on the road . Deleted the 3.0 and HWY use the 3.0 does OK.

From the list below, RussellandCissy is the only one that I know who is running a bone stock EcoDiesel. He had 433,323 miles the last time I talked to him.

400,000 Mile Club

It’s nice to see some good news 😂
The 2014 - 2019 (gen 2 EcoDiesel) certainly had some bottom end issues which is a combination of build quality and borderline design. The 2020 - 2023 (gen 3 EcoDiesel) is a very solid engine with a super low failure rate. There are a few reputable engine builders that are rebuilding the 2nd gen engine with great success.

All three of my EcoDiesel trucks are 100% bone stock. So far, I've had no major issues. But if I do have an engine failure, then I'll have the engine rebuilt.

I asked him about the delete today. He hasn’t done it since he’s worried about the warranty on the new engine.

There's nothing wrong with keeping it factory. We've seen many stock EcoDiesels make it to 300,000 miles.

Many LMBO...THE motor cost Fiat 3.5 $billion+ in loses,10 of 1000s blown motors..countless owners stranded by fires, EGR and plenum, tone ring failures, , ETC, yep and many people believe Joe B is fit to be president.

Based on the number of EcoDiesels out there with 300,000 miles, many of those are stock trucks. We see them quite often in the EcoDiesel facebook groups. It won't be too much long before we start see 300,000-mile trucks pop up in the 3rd gen EcoDiesel as well. As of right now, most of the 3rd gen high mileage trucks are in that that 200,000 - 250,000-mile range. So far, most of those have been stock tucks.

The point I'm trying to make is that stock trucks vs tuned trucks/Jeeps are doing fine. The issue with a stock truck/Jeep is the emissions. Eventually, the DEF pump, sensors, EGR cooler, DPF, etc. will need to be replaced, but the engine itself does pretty well considering the EcoDiesel has a B10 service life of 150,000 miles.

Many = what...no doubt they exist...but show me Many 300k miles 3.0 with out major... repairs..and yes stranding the owner in uncontrolled situations is a major problem and considered a major repair .. other than maintenance items.

Oh very nice. My response to the above has been deleted. It was respectful and simply explained what biodiesel didn't want to hear. It's 👌🏻. It obviously put you in your place.

V-Diesel on another forum used the Eco-D for professional towing. over 500K miles, but I think did drop in a new motor along the way. I talked him, his was deleted, tuned and he used a different grille for increased air flow (cooling). Since moved to a 2500 w/Cummins
Some Mac fleet guys are deleting & hoping for the best (fine/enforcement wise) ... due to unmanageable service costs.


I like my current Eco -D performing well so far, even better with new fuel pump.

I have seen you on these forums a lot. In your educated opinion, what is up with the failures on these things, and how can we prevent it?

Have you heard of other guys using engine cleaner? Seems like a bad idea on an already fragile rotating assembly. Dislodge crap, hits the bearing, seized up.

I bought mine at 129k. Removed the oil pan and to my surprise the pick up was spotless.
