Wow well at least you have some warranty left. Hopefully 3rd motor is the charm that runs & runs. Curious do you have a short commute? And do you have a tune?

Yes on the short commute, no on the tune. I will not own this truck within 1k miles of warranty expiring. I do love it though.

A colder climate short commute is probably the scenario that benefits the most from a tune. I’ve had my tune for over 350,000 & would invest in it again in a heartbeat.

No tune will save this engine , Not to mention its voids your warranty.....

Not judging no defense is needed. Simply because I wanted one is ok. I’m just asking what the motivator was as it wasn’t functional need. Could be combo safety fuel economy or how others including opposite might view me. Etc etc
Well yesterday I traded in the 2015 ecodiesel to a dodge charger gt all wheel drive. Not because I didn,t like the ecodiesel but all the money pit problems it has.. I have a friend that iworked till last year at a dodge dealer and he asked me when the warranty expires. I told him in April and he advised me to trade. I was going to change the oil first but decided against it due to the people that had their engines blow before they got out of the parking lot after oil changes. I know I will miss it sometimes but I never hauled much or towed anything. It clacked a couple times when I started it last week. I took that as the warning I was about to have engine problems at 23,000 miles. I will never own one again. If I decide to get another truck I probably will get the 3.6 gas engine. I drove one for a week when the eco was in the hospital and liked it ok. Not quite as snappy as eco was but the charger is.

I liked My chargers also all were AWD 2011, 2013, 2015 R/Ts 5.7. The wife wanted a Jeep, So We Now Have 2017 Limited Jeep 3.2 Great Mileage and drive itself Amazing to say the least. .. The QC at VM ruin the rep of the 3.0, If you were fortunate to purchased a Hero there great, get a Zero Not Good. None the less FCA should have stop /delayed production and modernized the VM rats nest the 3.0 is produce.

Pick door number 2. Get the tune & keep driving until about 12-19 when you can buy a MY 19 for a good price. Then Sell your existing ED out right. New engine doesn’t hurt value. Ie some won’t want it for that others will want it for that.

I just bought a truck with 85k, but it has a brand new motor installed by the dealer. So for me that was a plus.

Its a plus on the New but do you really know what you have without OAs? I would suggest Samples at 4-8K on the fist 30K miles and then go to 10-12k miles sampling....On the downside another 3.0 pukes itself. By FCA records back in 2016 Several months of 225+ 3.0 replacement demand, With no updates on the solution to the QCs issue's the failures will just continue to increase.

I’ll have to do some OA’s for sure. I’m thinking I’ll run rotella t6 5w-40. Anyone running a heavier viscosity? How many guys actually do their own oil?

I did my own oil changes with Kendell GT Euro 5- w-30 that had the Chrysler spec for the ecodiesel. I traded it at 23,00 miles because I worried that the engine might fail. Been sleeping a lot better since I passed it on to next owner.

So Vern is a moderator on the other ecodiesel forum and participates in the lifetime banning of anyone remotely criitical of the Ecodiesel.

Then decides to come over to the forum that welcomes those same critical opinions and the people sharing them???

A man with no shame pushing his tune agenda...

That’s ridiculous. This is not a government owned society it’s a free country. I can participate here whether you like it or not. I didn’t cause you to violate forum rules over & over, keep getting in arguments with forum members and ignore mods until you got yourself timed out and eventually banned. You did.

No different than someone Speeding 30 mph over the limit and blaming you for writing them a ticket.

I can both be critical of the EDs shortcomings & extol it’s virtues. You seem to only be negative. A quick review of your posts would reveal that. Be a sour grape if you want to.

Lol I have no “tune” agenda and zero financial interest in any of the companies that sell tunes. I do own one have had good luck with it and appreciate the benefits of it.

So you think since I’ve agreed to be a volunteer forum mod that I should not be able to share my experience and thoughts?

Tuneing my truck may go against your utopian socialist state beliefs. You may support controlled speech but you have not voted it upon us. Free speech is still guaranteed by our constitution embrace it or leave for one of your precious government controlled societies. Maybe you will marry the right guys daughter & become dictator.

BS Vern Your lead Mod 97hmcs 1500,diesel.com Ban Me when I started deleting My Started Threads.. Crash has the facts on this. VERN promotes 1500diesel.com rhetoric. All your cheerleading and GDE tune did NOT save your OE Power plant. 350K miles is mediocre at best. I also returned with the ID TWR473 Stated More facts and Guess what? Banned ,that sites excommunicates anyone that does NOT agree with the liberocartic agenda, You come Here to claim its a free country and participate here, WHY that's the 1# Doctrine at 1500diesel.com Honor yourself at the expense of facts and truths....

Vern If You or 1500diesel.com are interested in Free Speech WHY did 1500diesel.com , remove ,excommunicate ones that disagree with the bias doctrines that site supports? Or is your Narrative that weak it cannot survive constructive questioning?

I didn’t come here to talk about another forum or to be personally attacked. Review my posts. I don’t believe I have done anything but contribute positively here.

I get that you & the other poster spend most of your time running the motor & FCA down that is your perogitive. Why it bothers you that I don’t spend most of my time doing that is beyond me and I’m not going to make your problem my problem. You personally attacked me on here earlier and I blew it off. BTW I didn’t personally ban or lead to it for either of you. Nor did I control your keyboard.

It was 371,500 when she pushed out the head gasket thank you and I don’t believe I made any claims of that being anything super special. Although lots of folks would be stoked to get that many miles out their truck before update. Especially one that has been worked as hard as mine has.

I’ve had enough of the last two trash talking posts. Really I just want to talk Ecodiesel.

Thanks for getting this back on track guys. I don't have time to watch every single post ( I do have a day job).

I agree, let's discuss the EcoDiesel here, not forum policies. I don't have vendors here, so I have no interest in any company for sure.. I'm just a normal guy that loves running forums (oddly enough I know).

^ This. The product has some issues. I just wish we had a more solid way to preventing it. The new GM and Ford half-ton diesels will do nothing but make FCA step of their game.
