I have a 2016 Ram eco diesel and my exhaust filter requires a long drive about once a week to empty, is this normal and is there anything that can be done to remedy it? Thanks in advance!

I used to drive a half hour each way to work, now my drive is about three minutes each way, my truck has almost 90K on it and I bought it new. Could it be because I’m not driving far or fast anymore? That’s what I’m thinking. Thanks for the response!

I guess I should give you a little more detail. The way the emissions work is they have to heat up really hot to burn the excess exhaust fumes. If you aren’t building enough heat, the dpf filter starts to plug up. That’s why you have to run it down the highway. To build more heat for the cat to heat up enough to function properly.
