Good Day everyone,
Just purchased a 2022 Ram ecoDiesel with 21k miles. Love it so far. Before purchase I thought I had done my research on the Ram ecoDiesel over the V8 Hemi but after getting on this forum and seeing the engine replacement and other horrid issues, now I'm starting to wonder.
Any advice on fuel or oil additives that may help prevent some of these failures I'm reading about?
I was previously on the Ram Forum and all I read was great stories of MPG and ecoDiesel longevity.
Anyway for now, loving this truck....

Ram 1500diesel.XXX is the poster forum for cover up OF all VM Motori and Fiat , Failures.... the facts all VM 3.0 are Hero-Zero Status. Some get years of good service, others need 3+ engines in 5 years of use. Service intervals are required for all VM 3.0 power plants.

Many of the issues are in the older engines. First generation ? I have a 2020 and I love it.

I am still loving my 2016 Laramie 4x4 ecodiesel quad. Clocked 138k miles this week. I have done all maintenance myself (after the 2 years included oil changes). Don't skip the transmission! All recall services done, except the fuel pump. I need to call about that again tomorrow. Def pump failed last month. Purchased a new replacement from ebay & a new injector (chinese copy) from amazon. Dropped and rinsed the tank then flushed the injector supply line with a syringe & distilled water. 1200 miles since & she still treats me better than my wife🤠. Always remember it is a LIGHT duty pickup & you'll probably be fine. Whew! I'll shut up now🤔😂

Hello,
I have a 2015 w/ 172k on it. Here's what I do/ have done:
-SofaKing stage 1 tune
-Oil changes at 7-8k miles w/ Rotella T6, Valvoline Premium Blue, or Delo full synthetic
- Been adding Lucas synth oil additive since purchase @ 26k mi (2gal oil, 2qt Lucas)
-Always, always, always use a fuel additive that lubricates the injection pump - Archoil, Power Service, Hot Shots, Howe's
-Note: Stopped using Lucas fuel additive in diesel due to increased soot at lower EGTs (at stoplights, light cruising, warm up, etc.)
-Made an EGR restrictor to greatly reduce flow into intake but keep sensors "happy" - metal parts that fit into the crossover tube ("MacGuyver")
-Change fuel filter every 15k mi and air filter every 12k

When I change my oil, it's not black - I can still see a little light through it. I have not had to do a "regen drive" since I stopped the Lucas fuel additive (over 1yr). I'm not bashing on the Lucas fuel additive, it's great in my gas vehicles, but due to the large EGT range of diesels, it just hasn't worked well for me. Still running the original injection pump w/o issue - awaiting my turn for the recall.

That great you have 172,000 miles on a gen 2 EcoDiesel. Unfortunately I heard a lot of bad things about those engines. That's why i purchased a Gen 3 engine. My vehicle is not deleted so I will just play doctor with the sludge/soot over time.
