Hello, I am in the process of trading in a 2014 MB ML-350 Bluetech 4Matic diesel on a 2014 Ram 1500 ecodiesel.
I have been trying to do all my research to see if I am making to right choice in this trade.
There are so many negative post about this vehicle, I am very hesitant to purchase this truck now.
Can anyone offer positive advise up or down on this.
The MB tows a 30’ travel trailer, 7,500lbs. like a champ until I hit a 9% grade and 7K feet of elevation than it starts to overheat and the safety override kicks in shutting it down.
The reason for looking to trade in for the Ram 1500.
Thanks for any feedback
Jim

There are many that do just what you are wanting to do with a 1500 ecodiesel. Some will tell you a jump to a 3/4 ton truck will offer greater peace of mind.
I tow a 26' TT that we load to about 6600 lbs. and it took some work, research and diligence to set up my T.V. and
T.T. with my WDH . I also made a couple thoughtful modifications to give me the greatest comfort level.
Airbags and E-load rated tires are the main two.
I would research the vehicle history thoroughly on a 2014 with ?????? miles. Have all the recalls been done?, is it a Canadian truck? what is the service history? mileage? etc....
I think a 9% grade at 7000ft. with a 2014 eco d could result in similar results as your mercedes...

Thank You for your input. That is one of my biggest concerns, trading in the MB to the Ram 1500 eco d. That when we go to tow up the steeper grades of the Rockies we are still falling short on ability of the tow vehicle.
A lot to go over before I trade.
Thank You
