Not getting the gas millage I was told. 2015 EcoDiesel

I recently bought a 2015 EcoDiesel with only 32k miles on it and was told that I should get 32 mpg on hwy. I'm getting 15.7mpg on hwy. We generally drive the speed limit at 65 mph. What's going on?

I have never gotten mileage like that I am happy to average 22 where I live. Towing mode usually keeps the truck in 7th gear and that will eat fuel. I get the best mileage on the open road at about 52 to 55 but don't usually drive at that speed. Wind resistance is also a factor with these trucks, I modified my trailer so I could lay the ramps on the floor instead of standing up. Even with mesh on my ramps standing up cost me 2 mpg. Its hard to do but I try to hold a consistent speed on highways, even slowing and speeding up with traffic hurts my mileage. The only way you will see 32 is to be on a flat straight road at about 28mph with the read out showing instantaneous mpg.

I average 22-24 depending on speed & wind conditions, I got almost 29 on one trip, that's the exception, not the rule.

I used to average 22 , I ran into another Eco diesel owner and he also averaged 22 , my high was 27 , pre emissions refit, now I average 19 but its winter here ..... keep your tire pressure at the correct level it helps some

Thanks for all the feedback. I live in the costal plains of Georgia so its generally flat land. I'm going on a little trip today and will check out the mpg differences on mph differences.

The 3.0VM has lost ground to Gas, My 2015 Laramie 4x4 AIRRIDE 3.92 did get 30MPG one time going N on I35 at 65 MPH for 200 miles, the Winds were N at 15/20 MPH, Otherwise at 65 MPH it was 24/25MPG Drive 70MPH and it dropped to 23/24MPG , Drive 75MPH 21/23MPG.

Now 3.55 Two wheel drive will net another 1-2 MPG Increase AIRRIDE will net another 0.5 better due to Aero mode.

3.21 just to low IMO UNLESS all HWY Driving 75MPH+, that being said at HWY Speeds 70-75MPH+ will net MPG increases, But City Driving with 3.21 will lower MPG and suck in stoplight to stoplight Driving.

Don't believe the L-O-M all ways HC.

Hi doc65, I also found that I get much better mileage with my Eco when I fuel up where premium grade fuel is available. The chain places usually don't carry the good grade of fuel, I have to get mine at a family owned little truck stop near me. There are 3 grades of diesel available here in western Pa. so premium is harder to find.

Pa. requires it be posted on the pumps but it's always posted at 40 so you have to take the vendors word if it's posted premium. At times I carry a glass container with lid and put a bit of fuel from the pump in it. I have noticed most better fuel seems to have a darker green tint around here.
