Oddly short oil interval...

My last oil change of Rotella T6 15w40 only gave me 3157 miles... odd?

No chunks, no oddities, no bizarre oil pressure numbers. Perhaps this is because of a poorer quality filter? I typically run K&N's but the filter I used on this interval came with the new filter-cap - maybe not as stringent? The oil that came out was just as "normal" looking as all the changes before it. Thoughts?

What the heck??? Extremely strange indeed. Your own thoughts on the reasons seem the most plausible

@SeanPwnery - Reset to 0 and send a sample off to an oil analyzer. If there is a problem and the oil life monitor doesn't drop significantly then maybe no big deal!.

Also your truck is a 2016? I thought the oil filters with the integral cap was only for 2020 and up? I could be wrong though... worth checking
