Ok so I’m doing a oil change on my 2014 ram eco diesel, I just drained the oil put the drain plug back, now I’m trying to break the oil filter loose but it won’t, I’m using a 27 mm, I’m afraid if I keep trying I’m going to round the head and it’s plastic, because the socket keeps slipping off any help will be great thanks

Takes a decent amount of for it to break loose. Maybe an oil filter strap?

I use a socket with an appropriate length extension, to get the ratchet away from the engine, this helps to eliminate the rounded cap issue. If you still end up with a damaged cap OEM is available PN 68148345AA.

Good luck.

I make sure the socket is a 6 point ,like others have said use extensions, possibly straps if that fails.
