unit. I can't wait to be able to breath knowing the oem oil cooler is off my truck.

Oh I will am really excited I was one of the first orders. There's 25,000 plus miles on this. There's a few vids on YouTube with the prototype it doesn't look as pretty as the final one.

Interesting. I'm curious to the investment now after having read into it and seeing that there is a integrated thermostat so it's still allowing the oil to warm up before using the forced air cooler. I wonder what oil temps it holds though.

As in compared to OEM oil temps of 220F+ when loaded?

Heck I got to 223F the other day just pulling my lil old bassboat (3500#+/-) up and down a small hill to the lake the other day. I understand these trucks inherently run hot, but it'd be real nice to see this unit cool the oil at a much better clip....

Well as previously stated the factory cooler can only keep the oil near the coolant temp. So coolant goes up to 220 under load the oil will go 220-230.

Ambient air two nights ago at about 62 degrees towing my jet boat back from the river I was running 230-235 oil temp. Not a fan of the factory "cooler"

As long as you keep it under 260-265 you are well within spec. Remember it's full synthetic we are talking about. You can't beat a liquid to liquid cooler!

If i'll was using it's own coolant Bank then maybe so. A liquid heat sink could be more efficient without requiring a forced air method. But we're talking super heated coolant. Circulate it with something only 100-180° then perfect. But as is? It's too far towards the high end then most people's comfort.

Does anyone notice that the oil at 230 doesn't even budge from the Center line of the temp gauge? It's designed to be that warm...

The coolant is typically in the 200 degree range and seems to have no problem keeping the oil temp. well within acceptable limits. The problem with the stock oil cooler is the failure rate (maybe) we don't really know haw many have failed. Perhaps 50 have failed out of on more than 100,000 produced who really knows for sure. I would replace my stock oil cooler with a similar unit with improved design if it were available..

i have heard alot about the oil heat problem, and i guess the concern is oil breakdown, and synthetic oil will take more heat, my 07 harley uses synthetic sees temps of 280 regularly and head temps of 360. and at 70k miles no issues, yes i would like to see lower temps, but it is air cooled, so i would think my eco diesel should handle that, i guess an oil analysis would answer that question also...............

I'd be concerned with what effects the elevated temps have on the transmission fluid. How does shearing action increase/decrease with increased temps while towing. Can the fluid hold up to repeated heat cycles like that? Does the transmission benefit from running at a cooler maintained temp? I don't know much about the new transmission design but everything has a design temperature or range...
