Poor ecodiesel horn... dissapointed

Besides the oil in my radiator issue that I've discussed on this site, I'm very disappointed in the Ram Ecodiesel horn system. First of all it is hard to activate, you have to push very hard to make it blow. The pressure to push has to be enough to indent the horn covering about a quarter inch before it will blow. Second of all the sound is delayed and sometimes I'm even too far past what I want to blow at. And third you cannot just tap the horn to alert somebody with a softer, quieter blow and a shortened blow, it has to be a full blown LOUD blow. I like many of the features of the Ecodiesel but this is one that needs improvement. Maybe I'm just too picky. Anybody else have similar issues with it? Are there any resolutions from anybody?

I agree. There's no tap tap. It's a full blown whaaaaaaaaalllmp. Its very uncontrollable as well.

How is your truck doing now any pic with clean antifreeze before and after

It's still in the shop... for another 3-4 days. Hopefully.

I did notice the horn was kinda difficult to push, thought it could just be my truck guess not!

Really, the HORN you will get used to it.

In his defense the horn absolutely drives me nuts on this truck too...it obviously is electronically controlled instead of the good ole set of contacts in the wheel.

Couple of things. First, I don't like the horn either. There's probably a relay involved or something that makes for the delay. Second, is that it needs a lot of pressure to engage the contacts. However, I've noticed with mine, that with use it's not as hard to engage. (And no it's not my imagination or wishful thinking!) I can actually feel it. So since some time has passed it's been a little easier to give the friendly 'toot-toot'. But it's still more work, and the interval is a bit longer than in other cars, so sometimes it still comes across like your pissed off.

I just lay on it and smile. Toot toot or a good ole whaaaaaaalmp, either one grabs attention, which is the point isn't it?
