First time posting, I wish it was for a better reason. Recently I bought a 2015 Ram ED Laramie Limited. We bought it for the hope of better pulling power and fuel mileage. I did the research and decided it was my only option, the only truck I would buy. I was a Ford guy growing up but recently had owned three Rams, my last for 10 years, no complaints. I expected to own this one at least that long. We had the ED about 3 months and loved it. To shorten the story, my wife was going to work one morning, hit some ice, and rolled it down a hill. She is fine but the truck is probably a total loss. My question is with all the EPA crap and FCA not selling the ED this year or possibly ever again. Knowing this may be a bias forum, should I buy another ED or get something else? I would hate to buy another and have parts prices skyrocket and/or become hard to get. Sorry about the truck, but glad everyone is safe, that's all that matters.

As far as replacement. All you can do is hold out, and really, no one knows what's going to happen with the EPA.

I would wait... I see late 2017 with some direction form DOJ, IMO the ED does have defeat and conditional devices and software and will be found to be grossly violating the CAA and justice will be administer according to the law. I will be putting My order in for 2018 if New engine is developed, Otherwise I'm looking at F-150... I can't believe I said that.

from the oil cooler problems to crank tolerance issues broken cam shafts to epa issues i'm really starting to wonder if
i made a good choice? can you even sell these trucks, or trade in, with this problem on the table? they knew this and rolled the dice anyway
now the consumer has to eat it, $44000 fine for each one sold who gets that the government? really kinda pisses ya off to get yanked around like this. guess i'll wait for the reflash to come out, (and it will) good-by fuel mileage then send CPU back to gde if it will even be possible

FCA is on the hook for the fine... Not the buyer.

I don't think swordfish understands how this works, government agency imposes fines, FCA pays fines to government, then they have to come up with a fix and if they cannot it has to be disposed of, which is where buy backs and that fun stuff come in. Unfortunately the consumer doesn't get anything unless a buyback or something is going to happen.

i kinda thought that was had it had to play out, thanks for the information in detail, its frustrating when there is deception attached to your pocket book and you have to sit-by and wait to see the results.....

Curious what you ever ended up purchasing as a replacement?
