Man!

All of you said to go with GDE and so I did. Got my Hot Tune then when I got my core charge back I ordered the transmission tune. I had sent them the information for my truck and was just waiting for the file back to tune my transmission and "we are working to understand the many changes happening in these past days to the aftermarket industry" but apparently not completing the transaction they already had money for. The phone line is down and they are not returning my emails.

First Ram ruins my truck with a "recall" then this. I just can't win.

Update. I decided to pursue the charge through Paypal since I didn't see any other options. Fancy that, they are responding to those messages. It looks like they are going to send me my file tomorrow, so we will see. They seemed a little miffed, but what do they expect when they shutdown their store, turn their phone off and stop answering emails with customers still waiting on things.

Thanks for the welcome. Been reading on this forum since I got my truck, just didn't have anything to post till now.

They probably are shutting down lines because the EPA fines being thrown around diesel tuning companies are $1 million plus. To avoid a potential fine, it is probably smart to let the dust settle before hurrying up to just get fined.

That being said, I have heard only positive news from the customer support side of GDE so I am sure everything will be as advertised. Crossed fingers they are back in the business here soon so the customer base can continue to receive future support.

Interesting experience and good to hear that they replied to PayPal. I received my GDE ECM last week, couldn't do install till today. Working GREAT but I still have to return my stock ECM AND get my core charge back! I'm confident that these guys will take care of me - they were very helpful when I reached out and changed my mind on the engine/turbo brake function (decided NO), refunded that $50 immediately. I hope these guys can figure out their future, I think this ECM tune is...a beautiful thing! 28-31 mpg while doing some highway miles at 62-64 mph to complete my regen after starting it up. And performance difference is very noticeable - was giggling/giddy! Final laugh btw - taking the Chrysler "emissions fix" software update sticker and applying it to my new ECM.

I'm in the same boat as you. Ordered my ecm sunday and got it in yesterday. I'm a little concerned about getting that core charge back now.

hang tight, gde from what I saw on another forum is working on something and are slowly catching up on getting back to each customer to explain and do what they can to help you.

This was posted in another forum which GDE just got back to the customer this morning. Sounds more encouraging than no contact whatsoever. They are overwhelmed right now, give them time to figure out a solution that works for EPA and it's customers. I'm confident GDE will come through, you just happened to order it at a really bad time for them...

------------------------- from another customer who posted this...
We've been trying to call each customer and explain the situation and ask if they want to keep the core before we refund it. Our webstore is paused at the moment, considering but not limited to the changes rolling out in terms of what tuning we can provide for what intended usage.

We're working to develop now products which can meet the applicable tests for on-road use. Said so, it won't be exactly what you have today in a few different aspects. If the tune you have today gets overwritten by a dealer for some reason, we can't reinstall it at this point. Keeping the stock ECM would allow you to manage that situation with much less risk.

If you do want to get your stock ECM back we will return it free of charge and it would ship back on Monday.

Thank you for your patience and consideration,
GDE

At this point in the game, it may be wise to hold on to your stock ECM for trips back to the dealership. Having a tuned get overwritten by a tech who disregards a request not to do any updates would be catastrophic in that your tune would be lost for good.

They did send me my file back for the transmission tune. If I had known a little more when this all happened I may have been more patient. That being said my truck runs like a dream, better than it did prior to the recall. Make me sad that I am one of the last to get this tune.

I don't have the data, but if my truck is putting out more emissions but is getting better mpg it would have to be putting out a lot more emissions for it not to be a net loss. Would be interesting to see the data. Then you also factor in the longevity of the engine and the fact the engines running longer is better for the environment than some factory churning out new engines.

Oh brother, what to do...

Thanks for the update from the other forum. You guys will appreciate this "between rock and hard place" conversation with wife (Chief Financial Officer mind you...): "But honey, it DIDN'T cost me $1300 bucks, I'm getting $500 back for sending them my stock ECM. Honest."

What a conundrum - mine is in the mail back to them. I have a missed call - no message - from Cheboygan MI (231-597-5999) on Monday?

If I find a great deal on a new or used ECM, can I get that re-flashed to stock by someone nice for a nominal fee?

If you do, let me know also. I want to get a used ecm and get it flashed without going to the dealer and raise eyebrows... Maybe if GDE comes back to the scene, I can get them to do it...
