My '15 Laramie Eco put me on the side of the road with an overheated engine in Nov. with an EGR coolant leak. I have now passed the 30 day mark with the truck at the dealer. I called FCA to start the buyback procedure so will chronicle my adventure.
Called the cust service line and told the first person what I wanted to do. She started to argue with me right away telling me the parts aren't available and I would need to wait. I told her I knew that and I wanted to start the buyback - "Well there are no guarantees that it will happen". I read her the part in consent decree where it's clearly spelled out. She said all she could do is set me up with a rental and I would need to wait. I told her I already had a loaner, thanked her and did a HUCA.
The next agent answered, I told her what I wanted to do and she asked if I could hold. A few minutes later, she comes back with a case # and tells me it has been escalated and I will get a call back from a supervisor in a couple days.
I will give the supervisor 1 chance and see how this is going to progress. If I don't get a warm and fuzzy, I will call the class action attorney and turn it over to them.
More to follow.

Do you have an update to your adventure with FCA? It has been almost a month since your posting and I am wondering how things are going for you.

The truck was temporarily fixed by installing an old design EGR cooler after 50 days. The dealer originally told me it was the new part but they were wrong.
To date, I have spoken with 8 people at FCA, all of them deny any knowledge of there being a buyback option in the settlement. Even after leading them to the actual consent decree, they deny. I have gotten in touch with the settlement attorneys and they are now handling it for free. They are in touch with the FCA lawyers.
They have told me it will be a very slow process, 3 months or longer. Since the VB1 recall has come out, FCA is now saying the EGR cooler is not related to the AEM recall. All the attorneys are cashing in.

Thanks for the update, I am debating on doing the AEM or not on my 2016. I may just do it, get the rebate, then trade it in on a 3/4 Diesel or a new 2020 Eco-diesel. Best of luck in your endeavors.

I am new to the Forum and really curious about this topic as my 2014 EcoDiesel has been in the shop numerous times and has had nearly the entire emissions system replaced. It's currently in the shop having the catalytic converter replaced as well as a few sensors. My concern is that, and I'm assuming I'm not eligible for any sort of buyback after having the AEM work done. That said, after the AEM update I've lost about 3 to 4 mpg and often deal with an unresponsive throttle for 3 to 5 seconds, especially when cold.

Can you point me in the direction of this language? I think I will go ahead and start this process.

I had the AEM flash done and the service dealer stated that on test drive the check engine light flipped on. They diagnosed it as a failing DEF pump. This is covered on the extended emission warranty, but "it takes 6-9 weeks" in their experience for the extended warranty to show up on the FCA system. Two other dealers have told me this. So I've been driving my truck around for two weeks hoping my EGR doesn't crack or I get a exhaust filter regurgitation error that shuts me down.

Pretty much done with dealing with the dealers and FCA on this.

I am hearing that FCA is not allowing dealers to take in the EDs on trade due to the open recall.
Dude...if this true, FCA might be one of the largest criminal organizations in the world 😂 I think I’ll pay this thing off and jump into a Super Duty.

The dealer in Longmont, Colorado where I bought my 2015 Ecodiesel said that they would take it because the problem is theirs not mine. I have to bring it in and see what they will offer. Buyback sounds painful. Meanwhile I'm stuck with a check engine light and an EGR cooler part that isn't available until April. The dealer in Boulder said my engine could catch fire- not a happy predicament for all of us ecodiesel owners.

I’ll be curious what the difference will be between your trade offer and what NADA clean retail is for your truck with all the options.

I'm curious too. I'll follow up on this thread when I find out. The dilemma is: cut and run with a trade-in as fast as possible, pursue a lengthy buyback process, or risk having the engine compartment catch fire until the correct part comes in. And even that may not fix the problem.

2015 eco oil cooler exploded and burnt down intake
It’s been three weeks and dealer called to say truck is ready
They haven’t changed oil, flushed coolant system and I don’t feel comfortable picking truck up.
My cab filled with smoke that smelled like a plastic fire
What else needs to be done to my truck ?

I'm definitely interested to see how your buyback works out. I've got a 2014 ecodiesel Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I've had nothing but trouble since getting the AEM last year. MPG dropped, the accelerator lag is dangerously bad when the engine is cold. The Regen system fills up crazy quickly now, and doesn't always engage correctly. I've had to take it to the dealer 3 times now to have them do a forced regen. I never had any issues prior to AEM. Last month I also had the EGR cooler go bad. It took the dealer here in Boulder 4 weeks just to get the parts. Apparently they are backordered nationwide! So, my car sat at the dealer for a month. The repairs have all been covered under warranty, but they wouldn't provide a loaner car or rental reimbursement. I received my first settlement payment back in September, but like everyone else I've been getting the runaround on my second payment. Every time I call I get a different story, and they keep giving me a date exactly two weeks from when I call that they will supposedly start processing those payments. It's pretty obvious they are dragging their feet to hold onto the money as long as possible. Then to add just one more instance of incompetence ... A couple weeks ago I received a letter from FCA saying they had an updated AEM that would resolve the acceleration problems and for more info to contact my dealer or the ecodiesel settlement team. I contacted both and neither of them knew anything about it. I'm pretty fed up at this point and would love a buyback.

So I have a 2016 Ram Ecodiesel Limited and the NADA says that it's around $29,000 for trade in and the best offer that I've had is $24,500 and the guy told me over the phone that it has to do with there not being a fix to the VB1 Recall.
