Tailgate recall

Just received a recall stating that the 2014 Ram 1500 tailgate that could open inadvertently. Anyone else get this recall? On a recent trip to Padre Island we drove almost 80 miles round trip on the beach. Coming back I noticed the tailgate was down and we lost some beach stuff.

Just had that Recall in the mail yesterday and had the truck in the shop for the suspension replacement so got that one covered, never had a problem with the tail gate!
To bad FCA would not have recalled the air suspension system would have saved me a pile of money over the years!

Never got a recall for tailgate, but mine is a 2016.

I got the recall and set up an appointment for mine with something else (software update or something) a month ago. Both things would/should take about 30 min tops according to the service mgr at a LARGE dealership. 2 hours later they tell me they didn't have the part for the tailgate and I'll have to come back. I was quite unhappy to say the least. Seems the service manager would check to see if they had the part before even making the appointment. I'll go to another dealer next time. Still don't have it done....

I would be very careful of the software updates as FCA seems to be attaching their EPA software updates to allot recalls. I specify every time I take the truck in that NO ECM updates will be done on the truck with out my prior knowledge and consent or they own the truck! They tried to sneak the EPA update on the Selector switch recall which I turned down as it could not be done without the it. (As relayed to me by my mechanic)

If anyone wants the part # for tailgate recall I have it. It was 1.99 at the dealer. Had to pull teeth to get the part number and purchase it lol I have the paperwork in my truck if someone wants it I’ll post it soon. I told them to go f themselves I’m not sending my truck through the service department some retard will surely flash it. Since mine is oem flash I don’t want to aem flash and have it turn into a bonfire on my way home.

Tools needed:
*T-30 torx On a drill
*Common sence

Time needed: 10 minutes

Steps
1. Remove all screws holding tail gate access cover.
2. Remove cover.
3. Find lock actuator and slip rubber boot away from actuator.
4. Insert rubber block between white arms of actuator.
5. Reverse steps and done!
