Hey all, sorry if this has already been asked, I looked some and didnt see it. Anyways got my 2014 eco about 3 years ago. (First time owning a diesel) anyways always averaged around 24mpg, then after first update it dropped to 19 or so, then second update it dropped to around 18. Same as my brothers hemi... and had lost all power.. started looking into things and seen on here about tunes. Got the SKT and as promised I got my power back and my mpg increased to 23mpg. Happy with the increase, but I see on here everyone with a tune seems to be getting 24 to 27 or better? Everything else with truck is factory. Cleaned my EGR when I did the tune, what else should I check or clean to try and improve my mpg? Also did oil change and fuel and air filter. Thanks in advance.

Block off your egr and unplug it. Also tire pressures should be checked and right, and Toneau cover seem to be common on these truck

Stage one should allow removal of egr. Unplug the two connectors On egr and see if it throws a code. If it does email jimmy and see if he can rewrite tune for you

Can I just block off the EGR? Or do I have to buy a delete kit and completely remove it? Where I live.in upstate PA there is no emissions test , so just want best MPG and longevity of the engine

If you unplug it and the vacuum line you can leave it in place and block off the diffuser tube

Thanks, sounds easy enough, just never owned a diesel before, so new to all of this. Last question...lol. after I do this, will I have issues in cold weather? Only thing I read negative about unhooking it is warming up in cold weather. Or motor not getting hot enough? Again only what I have read on these threads, I'm a complete newbie to diesel motors. Thanks again!

I haven’t had any issues with mine! I live in va so weather is above 20f mostly lol
What did you use to block the egr tube? I see online for 200 the delete kit.. but I want to leave it all in, just unhook and block off tube, dont see just plates or kit for just that anywhere?

The egr delete kit comes with the block off plates for just the tube. I bought mine on eBay for around 100$ if you unplug both pigtails snd the vacuum line the egr shouldn’t function.

Ok, so I really dont have to block off anything, once I disconnect the plugs and vaccum line, its closed and pretty much same as blocking it off? Just leave tube on then...

Same thing I was thinking.. but will disconnect for now, see the differance, then get plates down the road. Thanks for the advice! Excited to see mpg increase.

Ok, installed the SKT on truck, then yesterday disconnect the EGR ( unplugged both connectors and one vaccum line) should I of plugged vaccum line? Or just leave open? Also still only averaging 22mpg at 65 on highway one pretty level road? Was getting 18 before any tune or egr disconnect, shouldnt I be getting a little better? Anything else I can check or test? Any way to test turbo for leaks or anything?

Try cleaning your MAF sensor, feel it helped mine out in the same situation. I have SFT stage 1 engine & trans tune, rally, and EGR turned off but haven’t disconnected my EGR yet. 2018 eco

Sofakingtuned. It’s a tuner company that I got my transmission and engine tune from. They send you a handheld device which you download your ecm onto and send them the file. They then send you a tuned file for your transmission and engine that you connect back to your ODB II port which replaces your stock files. Gets rid of the delayed throttle boost, disables the EGR (exhaust gas recirculating) which damages are engines.
