My 2015 EcoD threw a P2138-00 code and the dealership said my pedal position sensors failed. They want $914 total ($370 parts and $424 labor then tax and fees). After finding the same part (Mopar's #53034160AE) from another dealer for $280 I am fixing it myself. Seems like it is two nuts and a wire harness clip. My questions and need for help are.
- Does this part once installed require some kind of calibration? Does this require dealership computers? Several start stop/on off sequences?
- Is there a way to kick the truck out of limp mode without going to a dealership?

Appreciate any and all help in advance!

I don’t see why it should require a dealer trip or calibration. If you have a laptop or android device, look into alfaobd and a obd Bluetooth adapter, it will allow you to do most everything the dealer can do.

Say I don’t have those things. To be honest, not the best with computers. How does one kick it out of limp mode?

Possibly remove the battery cables for a few minutes or try this procedure compliments of another forum member John who posted this. But if you plan to keep the truck for a while, it would be a wise investment (around $100) to have the software and connector. Once you replace the part, a simple trip to autozone to clear the codes and get you back going.

It also gives you realtime sensor realings and codes and links to what those codes usually mean. I havent used my old school $100 scanner since I bought this thing 8 years ago. only I paid like $12 for mine. I had one like this permenently connected to my last truck which had the torque app in the android car stereo to interaface all the time.

UPDATE

For those interested. I did buy the part through a different dealership for $270. Found the part online for $180 plus tax and shipping however. Dealership could just get it faster. I pulled it out of the dealer ship and changed the pedal on the side of the road right in front of the dealership. Two bolts and the wire clip. Unhooked both terminals to the battery for 15 min (did it before I started and re-hooked when finished). Started it up just fine and it was no longer in limp mode. Start to finish 30 mins. That includes removing the floor mats. Easy fix, expensive part.

I’m going through the same issues right now as we speak I have a code p2138 and p0600 I have the same service throttle control on the dash and I’m in limp mode as well I replaced my pedal position sensor twice but didn’t disconnect the battery, do you think I burnt out the position sensor when plugged in both times?

Sounds like you may need to check all your connections and ensure no boost leaks.
