Now have 3000 miles on swap..
Just experienced "limp" mode...
After driving untuned truck for about 500 miles and thinking how poorly it perfoprmed-gutless wonder, merging onto I95 was horrific, just a sad running truck...
Installed eco stage 2 and tranny tune...Pulled all the krap off,including egr,, WOW it woke up
Now I got what I wanted, a lot of off line get up, great freeway 70-80 passing oomph, AND 21-24mpg at 80plus on the freeway.
Yes I goofed, turbo cold line came off on I73 in NC..went into limp... not a bad situation, I was still moving, but at a greatly reduced pace.. it even slowly climbed a very heavy grade from Stuart Va to Meadows of Dan va , I think its 9% yes slowly 45 or so BUT it ran to house where we discovered real turbo line issue..
obd reader had said MAP sensor ..when we cleared code after turbo line fix...ran like a tiger again..
If I bought a 50K truck that ran like it did before tuning/deletes I would have been a very unhappy camper..
The gen 3 in a 2014 truck tuned...is a great truck..
Limp mode is not like pergatory...hey you are still moving even on steep hills..forget the idiot behind you his day will come..
The code reader is essential..but it showed both MAP sensor AND low turbo boost..I was wrong in not picking up the boost issue..
Now have great offroad bumper on, just ordered Banks manifold and throttle body..with that I will be at about 23.5 in a cream puff, big rims, 8K gen 3 engine and a great performing truck. I thank the "big guy" I live where the "green" idiots have not forced me into "green" exhaust rules..
