the oil spec recently changed. from the diesel supplement.

We recommend you use 5W-40 synthetic engine oil such
as MOPAR or Shell Rotella that meets FCA Material
Standard MS-10902 and the API CJ-4 or ACEA E9/E7 or
ACEA A3/B4 engine oil category is required.

Welcome to the site!

The other @John is right.. sourcing oil is a little cheaper now and easier to find. Stick around and ask any questions you may have.

That's good news when I got the truck I heard you could only use penzoil and Mobile. Makes it a lot more cost affective being able to use Rottela thanks

CJ-4 5w40 synthetic opened up a huge range of options:

Shell Rotella T6
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck (aka Delvac 1)
Chevron Delo LE
Kendall SHP

Plus a LOT of others. I'm waiting for clarification about ACEA A3/B4 approval, which is mentioned at one point in the new documentation. If A3/B4 is also opened up, FCA is basically saying that any high quality synthetic 5w40 low-ash oil will do, which is even better news.

Clarification-
M1 TDT is NOT the same as Mobil Delvac 1.

M1 TDT does NOT have MS-10902/Cummins CES 20081, so it is not an oil that meets all of the specs.

Delvac 1 ESP 5W40 has Cummins CES 20081 along with just about every other builder approval.
