Winter Cover Alternative?

I don't have a winter cover and really hate the way they look. With this cold weather lately though, (-10degc today) I'm thinking it would be nice to have something to warm up faster.

I've been doing a couple trials with just adding some covers behind the grill. I slid a 1/4" piece of plywood between the rad and the tranny cooler with (4) 2-1/2" holes at the intercooler area first. Seems to be helping warm up faster and temp still holds fine between 90deg.c and 95deg.c. next I added some solid covers 10-1/2" wide beside the front condenser to block off the sides. All seems fine so far but wondering if anyone else has done something similar or has a cautionary tale that might scare me off and pull them out.
