The retrax covers are nice but it depends on your climate. Winter they don't function as well if you experience snow and particularly ice they're worthless and your truck needs to be completely thawed out. So heated garagability is a must. But opening your bed with the key fob option is awesome...
Ok so I don't quite understand for sure; is this a free oil change and flash for all owners? Or are they going to charge us for materials?
Also has anyone noticed their BOM for the RAM truck is only 10qts? 2.5gal. Even though oil capacity is stated as 10.5qts and/or 10L
@bobcat67 I appreciate the help and feedback regarding all this. A little reassurance goes a long ways.
It's kind of hard to know that one is making the "right" decision when FCA won't even spit out why they changed requirements let alone if they really did or not.
So would the Blue flame I'm using be kind of the best of both world's? Especially considering I'm in cold climate and FCA Canada is still calling for 5w30 (I'm 10 miles south of the Border in Mn)
So I have a cj4 full synthetic low ash and saps but in a 5-30 weight?
I've spoken with champion pretty thoroughly about this oil and it was designed and released the oil for the ecodiesel yet it is 5w30 and cj4 but didn't get Ms-11106 ating. Though it's just basically a Blue dyed version of their low ash low saps syngold oil.
I'm actually planning to send this...
I did actually get a call back from the parts department yesterday but they had only called their oil supplier which is both shell and Pennzoil who told him that Pennzoil euro is still the oil for our trucks.
New fluid can do wonders to a transmission but I wouldn't feel any reason to pull the factory fill out of our transmissions at my present mileage.
And considering that you do, what fluid are you planning to replace it with?
Lol I'm 10 min from the Canadian Border I can't get a straight answer as to if they're actually changing it or not. And what happens with the old spec oil as I have 2.5 gallons of 5w30 in my garage.
No luck
Go to rams website on the owner page and download the new revision of your trucks owners manual. Particularly the diesel supplement page. There is a new revision.
No, if the current revision of the owners manual and the online information provided to dealers stated for them or us as owners that you can run:
5w30 low ash and low saps full synthetic oil meeting FCA MS-11106
OR
5w40 mopar or shell rotella meeting MS10902 and is API CJ-4
If this...
Ok so I just spent an hour or so on the phone with the dealer and schooled the service tech that it's changing, he claims it's likely due to emissions and neither is going to grenade your engine. So run either one they're not going to void your Warranty. Stated that they are completely blind on...
