The only compelling reason I have read for using any additive is to improve the lubricity of low sulphur fuel. If the diesel you buy is already 5% biodiesel you shouldn't need it.(?) Where I live it never gets very cold so I don't know too much about cold weather fuel

Just curious. From the posts I am seeing electrical (?) as the common cause, and inconsistent at that! I gotta say that some of those fires were pretty fierce judging by the pictures. In 1994 I had a brand new Mitsubishi Galant catch fire. less than 10000 miles. Never got the cause of the fire...
