How is it NOT covered? With the AEM comes cash and extended warranty from date of reflash, no matter the current mileage, that's the whole incentive to taking the truck in....
Agreed. Only way I will accept the AEM is if I am selling the truck. I will not flash for cash and turn to a tuner and I'm partial to keeping this truck for many more miles then the current 83k. The AEM isn't healthy for the truck, period.
No. If you have owned or currently own a Ram with the EcoDiesel then you are entitled to settlement benefits. No need to sign up until the time comes.

I think timing gear and connecting rod are non issues, flukes so to say. The bigger issue is bearing failure.
Either way, not sure a tune would do a whole lot to prevent that failure other then changing RPM maps to reduce stress on the bottom end. I guess keeping the oil cleaner longer helps...
What do you mean $38k take in? Trade in value on your 43k mile truck that has had engine work? That sounds extremely high and not normal. Hell I bought my Big Horn for that in 2015 at under 100 miles. But if that’s your deal, awesome. Sounds like a steal!

You are probably looking at enough time before actual FCA payout that the Chevy may be on the lots by then. So you will have 3 halfton diesels to choose from. Great spot to be in!

I think it’ll be beneficial for an owner to run out original warranty as much as possible (99,999 in the states) then sign up for the ‘fix’. That’s a comprehensive warranty out to 148k + $3075.

I may avoid it. $2500 is a lot of coin, but as I’m approaching end of warranty, I don’t want to do anything that puts more stress on an already caked emission system.

Yea big news. But unwanted. I do not want an updated ECM flash. You can bet your paycheck the program is not good for the longevity of the engine.

Your best bet for information about GDE’s product is their website.
My take is that it’s a full reprogram of the ECM. I’m not savvy enough to breakdown everything they accomplish but it does shutdown the EGR and quiets all the foolish sensors such as quality of DEF and whatnot. (You can run...
Seems to me, even in winter, if I keep my truck 65mph or under I can pull 25+ mpg on the freeway. Anything over that and it drops like a rock. Couple high speed with a headwind and it’ll really knocks it down. 19-20 seems low, but then again these trucks are picky on conditions....

I agree. I don’t know that I could jump back into another Ram if mine gave up on me. I would take a hard look at the lil Dmax, or go back to a gasser. However, it does sound like a lot of your issues can be attributed to a poor service department.
