Yea it should be covered as a manufacturing defect. Somebody at FCA dropped the ball. If they take into consideration how rare this will come up, paying for it is a good publicity no brainer.
When you buttoned everything back up and primed the system, did you hear the pump running? Is the truck turning over but not firing?

There are options out there that will wake up the truck. Tunes from PPEI, SFT, GDE, etc will do the trick. There is also the Pedal Commander, which eliminates a lot of the lag you experience. Install these at your own risk tho as a dealership may deny you warranty work because of them. Kind of...
