It's certainly a risk. We've towed our travel trailer through California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. The truck derate itself once when going over a mountain pass...
In May of 2020, I started saving $250 per month. Today, I have exactly $3,000 dollars.
I have to be careful when I show my enthusiasm for the EcoDiesel. Sometimes people interpret my love for the EcoDiesel for being "high quality" or "highly reliable", etc. When people ask for my advice, I...
I really liked Shawn. His YouTube videos were/are helpful. Looking back, it's easy to place judgement or find flaws in some things that Shawn theorized, but at that time, the EcoDiesel was new and he was searching for truth. I didn't join the forum until Shawn had already passed, so I'm not...
I haven't had a chance to do any towing yet with the GDE tune, but I'm looking forward to seeing how she performs with the tune.
200,000 miles is my target goal as well. Thankfully replacement engines are fairly affordable.
As far as I know, they are still using a rubber hose. Several people are replacing the rubber hose with a high temperature silicone hose like the one the in this link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C9L9LP9/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
How many miles are on your...
I wouldn't get too discouraged. The EcoDiesel has some known problems, but there are many happy EcoDiesel owners.
We had a 2006 Cummins for 10 years and loved it, but it was only useful for towing or highway travel. The 1500 EcoDiesel is more conducive as a daily driver and for light duty...
I don't remember the mileage when I had the AEM installed. It was done in May of 2019. For sure, I'm good until 120,000 miles. I'm at 93,000 at the moment.
I would run B50 for 5,000 miles and take an oil sample. If the oil sample comes back good, then I would run B50 for 10,000 miles and pull another oil sample. If that comes back good, then I would repeat the 5,000 mile oil samples with B75 and B100.
I have a 2015 and 2020 Ram EcoDiesel. Due to COVID-19, I was working from home and didn't drive either truck for a while. I only have 2,813 miles on my 2020. So far, I love both trucks and haven't had any major issues with either one.
Sadly, this is true. I'll be getting the W58 update sometime in the next two weeks, then I'll install the GDE EPA Compliant Tune which will also have the W58 software added to the tune.
From my understanding, the truck will derate itself if the coolant or oil temp reaches a certain temp. You mentioned that the oil temp will derate around 270*F. Do you know at what temperature the coolant will cause a derate?
I was surprised that AFE took the time to research, develop, and manufacture the oil pan. You wouldn't think there would be a market for an engine pan, but somehow AFE came to the conclusion that it would be a good product to offer. I literally don't know anyone who has purchased the pan...
I contemplated selling/trading my 2015 when the AEM warranty runs out, but overall, I've been pretty happy with my 2015. Granted, I only have 92,000 miles on the engine. The quality control seems to be hit and miss on the engines. Some people can go 200,000 miles with minimal problems and...
