The shop that did mine was able to e mail the tune same day and upload it to my ECM. Parts were readily available locally. I too and Leary of reprogramming an ECM, especially on my daily driver.

True! I’m in central texas with near 100 degree days, the viscosity stays thin, I wouldn’t do it during the colder time of the year, and I only did it when I absolutely had to. I think I would rather wait and keep running past 10k miles if that was my only choice and it was cold.
