Are the oil coolers failing? Is this a pervasive problem? Is there a recall? Are there a slug of engines grenading?

So what is the problem we are fixing? Too high of oil temps when towing?

Just got 27.2 on a 500 mile trip. cruise set at 70mph for a large portion of the time and 2 mountain passes. I actually made NO attempt to get extra mpg and just drove it normally. Not towing this trip.
