Hello, Im new to this forum but I post for a purpose. I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Laramie ecodiesel 4x4. Thought Id try this nice looking truck. Heard great reviews on it too. Heres the problem, I have a lemon!!!..Bought in Dec. 2015, a 2016. In Sept. 2016 exhaust filler full, see dealer and service throttle body check engine light came on. No power fastest I cud go limping to dealer was 30mph. After 5 days they say they flashed the PCM..blah blah blah..at that time it had 5700 miles. Now go ahead to 2/23/17 and here we go again same issues, same messages...but this time was on the freeway gong 70mph in carpool lane..had too somehow get over to the right in emergency lande with my young son. Again limped it into the dealer. Of course they had it another 5 days...then they call me and say I needed an oil change!!!..so they did that..then they flashed the PCM, blah blah...fixed right...uh no I get it back and within 1.5 weeks 150 miles in between..its starting again,,,,"Exhaust filler 90% full. Drive safely at highway speeds to remedy"..now just waiting for the throttle body message to come up and ta da I'm back in the dealer..probably tomorro or Friday. Yes I have filed a complaint with Chrysler/Dodge as a lemon. Now waiting until the resolution person calls me back and yeah, pretty sure I don't want it back even if they say they did the same dam thing again. I can't depend on this $50,000 plus truck now even with summer coming up and with family I can be stuck in the middle of nowhere with this issue. I should have done my homework alot more on this engine..Im going back to the 5.7 Hemi as I had in my 09 dodge...any thoughts people?

There is likely an issue causing your truck to not complete or perform regens properly. It could be an underboost issue or something else. In order to get a better idea we would need the codes that your truck is throwing.

Well funny u say that when I get home I will relay the codes that came up. I spoke to the resolution Dept and pretty much told them I have no faith in this diesel, it's not dependable and the techs are not fixing it.
Don't want it back. So the same pitical correctness response was, " we will do everything to resolve the issue and u derstand under the lemon Law you want us to buyback the vehicle"
Absutely correct ma'am. As I recall they reset the PCM? In September, did t change anything and then on Feb 23 when it was in again they said the oil needed changing and that will fix it. Replaced oil filter not a separate filter for DPF and then again flashed the Pcm, well folks here we are again!!!

Ok so in sept of 16, experience the messages as I indicated above and smoke or exhaust in the cabin. They changed oil at that time with 5705 miles on it their code was
P2463 DPF accumulation and u029e box sensor module no communications. They road tested all fine
So in February 17 same messages mi is 11396 and have driven from California to Arizona and back and several trips to San Diego
Codes r P2463 DPF soot accumulation again and says change oil again! So they reset regen then their remarks are Runs Great!
Really so had 2 full oil changes within 6 months I had to pay for the second. Now they just called me and asked if I had run it on the highway to blow out, I said yes and even the time before that so basically told them don't give me the truck back if u can't fix it it's a lemon and then they said the tech can't clear the regen!11 ugh lemon people. Thoughts?

So, they call me and say that the tech had to manually reset or regenerate and that's all they can do but they can't tell me this keeps doing this and especially in between the las time in feb and now. But did say,'so whenever you're engine light comes on or u receive the message you have to bring it in right away, really?

That's right. If it's that full for an engine light to come on, most likely it's almost stopped up.

Also, if the DPF is bad, it will stop up faster and faster, then you for sure will need a new one.

sounds like you need to try to do more highway driving/longer trips. regens on these trucks really don't take a long time at all

Do you have a monitor so you can keep an eye on soot load?

i am not familiar with a monitor only the system itself but it will register and read a message at 80% full then 90 then 100 and then the throttle body is affected and I lose power. The dealer tech and Tech specialists apparently can't figure it out. Now Im researching myself..you have to realize that dealers do the absollute minimum first before going all hands on to thte next step and next step and so on. Hopefully I will know monday from the Dodge Rep who stated she also does not understand why according to her my description of whats gong on and the supervisor is stating 2 different things. Look at the work order people.. This is really frustrating and Id hate to give up the truck but I can't depend on it if its doing this now every 5 thousand miles and with going on long trips at highway speeds supposedly blowin it out.

Update on this truck. Contacted resolution dept of Chrysler/Dodge...sided with dealer and per the rep she said that per the service manager, ah he said there was nothing written on the report, work order that there was a problem. OMG its written in black and white, then the Star Tech" stated there was no issue but they had to force regen..OMG can't they see thats the problem. Then they blame me for not bringin it in sooner, not driving it and its not meant for the city. That last one really got me. I have pictures of all the times its been in, before mileage, freeway driveing mileage etc. Im so done with this truck, Now the letter to the manufacturer with the listed address in the manual. Wait for their reponse if they deny lemon/buyback, then time for a lawyer. This is really simple to diagnose and all they can do is blame me the consumer and plug the dam thing into a computer to reset and erase the codes.

Thats the only problem is that the dealer is just resetting the system..periord. I mentioned about the DPF and they said the computer does not show them that....ugh we need to get back to carburated engines...im so done with this truck

There is an oxidation catalyst just in front of the dpf, both are in the same can. If the cat is not working correctly, it could lead to failed regens and subsequent plugging and code. Being a repeat issue, the dealer should take proactive action and replace the dpf. Do you pull trailers much or flog the truck from time to time?

A tune would most likely stop the issue on this truck as the soot build up is at a much slower rate.

Sorry, don't mean to steal your thunder but I kinda feel the same. The first day I had my truck, I put 800 km on it with a service engine light on and 18.5 liters per 100km. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong so drove away. Didn't even get across the street and my 80% regen came on so went on the highway again fo 20 minutes and that cleared up. The dealer manuals got rid of the service engine light. Went home and an hour, still highway driving, and the service engine light went on again. By the time I got back home it was down to 10.5 liters per 100 km. I now have 23,000km and haven't had another regen since that first one. This is my 2016, my 2015 showed regen almost every 1500km, mostly highway driving and was giving me between 7 and 9 liters per 100km on a regular basis. Is not having a regen in about 20,000km something I should be looking at?
