Trucks being running great for 28 days now with out any CEL. We were finally able to compete a camping trip with out any issues. We just got back from a 500 mile camping trip pulling our 4,000 lb camper. Still worried about going on the 1,400 mile trip we leave on Sunday.

I have 36k on my 2015, never been to dealer for anything other than oil changes, installed a GDE tune as soon as I purchased it, never had a code, fingers crossed!

80k file pump went out covered under warranty. $900

102300k crank shaft positioning sensor (to start) still in shop. 3 weeks minimum at the shop. $1200 repair. Unknown if dodge will step in and help with this issue since the part is 60 bucks... :-/

Bodcat67.... I tried warning owners of the inherit dangers of Owning the ED with the additional foam Back In 2015 ,Why do I repeatedly make references to 1500diesel.com The Mods did everything possible to cover the short comings of the ED up to Banning Me for sounding the warnings. The Only good Mods at 1500diesel.com are Crash and Vern.

If the Mods did NOT delete the threads I mentioned in 2015 the risk of fire would increase over time My guest it would start to increase in 2018 and continue to raise, Remove the Foam and practice good engine Hygiene and if left outside check daily for rodent activity under the Hood.

I did take the foam out and kept the truck really clean. However I did have the front timing chain cover re-sealed by a dealer recently. Not sure what needs to be taken off the engine to do this job. such as fuel rails and what not. I’m not sure what caused this, mere seconds before this happened it developed what sounded like an exhaust leak and then it threw a check engine light, then smoke from down below then smoke through the hood. The fire extinguisher I had didn’t do anything hardly at all.

Were you able to shutdown the engine down or did it keep running?

Did you wash the engine compartment after work was Done?

You also comment that it exploded...One has to inquire what was the cause of the explosion.

I see the CP4 cover did NOT melt, I took a torch to that cover, its made out of steel but the foam behind it melted. The Sound foam melted almost instantly. After a second look all plastic covers on the front are gone...The Sound foam being removed likely allowed a few more minutes to remove your personal belonging form the Cab.

I did try to shut the engine off, but it tried to stay running, was really weird sounding, obviously cause it was on fire.

I did wash the truck, and sprayed some degreaser and washed the engine the day before it burned down actually, there were no signs of leaks or anything prior that I could see.

You did everything possible to stop a possible fire...It was NOT owner neglect. I would say you went above and beyond most to stop this fire, and it still happen...

Well mine will be FCA owned after the DOJ / EPA case is resolved, Its a great Truck with a great Transmission and Suspension, The Motori 3.0 built in Cento is killing the ED reputation, Diesel owners can only Hope in 2019 Its a New Fiat FPT motor. If the Fools in Europe want to put up with Cento its their Problem.... This is My second and Most likely last Last Overseas Motor . FORDs 3.0 is also built in Europe, I will be ordering a New 3.0 Duramax LM2 , the day ordering is open.

It would seem Burr Ridge IL has FPT (IH) on top were Cento is driving the 3.0 to the bottom.

TC: Can you elaborate more about the foam? The only foam I know is that piece under the engine cover on right side of engine.

Its on Both sides, and the cover of the CP4. I also remove the plastic engine cover.

Even look how diligent Bobcat67 was and it still burned. I want to see My engine for leaks of fuel ,coolant, oil Rodent activity all that foam does is cover possible problems until its to late.

Thanks TC for the quick response......is this foam mostly for sound? I live in Atlanta, Ga and if it is for cold weather then I am sure I don't need it.

Dodge told me since o was 2300 miles out of warrenty to F* off on the crankshaft positioning sensor repair bill... I traded it in for an 2018 F150, I'm done with dodge. Ford went above and beyond, even taking in the trade sight unseen, knowing it wouldn't start. I'm so disappointed with dodge, but with the new 19 body, it's not like I was going to buy another one. Lol

I know it is water under the bridge but I hope you let Ram/Dodge know what they miss out when they don't take care of their customers!!!
