Hi i'm new here i was noticeing there's no mention of a 0 winter oil like
0w30 which has around the same viscocity curve as the 15w40 at higher temps. I'm mostly looking for better fuel economy and the 0 winter has proven to get better fuel economy in our golf tdi.

Posting just for reference for our members.

Needed:
1 1/16th Socket
Mopar 6822 9402AA, Engine Oil Filter
Pennzoil 550023013-6PK Ultra Euro L 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil
--or--
Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP Synthetic Motor Oil

I would always go with mobil 1. Exxon owns all the additives for all the oils i would think they keep the best quality ones for Moble 1. If your penzoil and need additives for your new synthetic oil, you need to go to exxon for your additives.

It's not that cold here in southern USA..so I've not researched that but you make a good point.

For some reason the 0 winter has been advertised for extreme winter conditions and it doesn't make sense. It is just a lower viscocity at lower temp oil that when heated doesn't drop below the recomended viscocity level which means lower friction and better fuel economy. Thanks for your quick response BoostN.

No problem.

Champion SynGold is also now available and meets all specs. I found it for about 41$ per 6/qts shipped. From Auto anything.

About 160$ for 4x enough for two oil changes and a 3 pack of oil filters from the company Shawn recommends. Though there is a tiny tiny size deviation in length that doesn't effect anything but I notified them of it and they are seriously working to get it corrected. I've got an updated filter in the mail right now that will be the new stock item.

Great company and customer Service for the filters.

Anyways ~80$ to do the oil change myself

I've got a drain valve en route to add this time when I do my next oil change. Doing them between 6-8k miles, so I'm due, 14xxx currently.

Hopefully the drain valve makes it even easier

If it works as good as the video shows, it's golden. I need to bite the bullet and get one.

It sure seemed nice when I was watching Shawn's oil change video before I even ordered my truck! Was still in the research phase. I attribute a lot of my confidence of purchase solely in Shawn's reviews.

Little tip that makes filter on/off easier. Use a 12" extension with a universal joint and the 1-1/8" socket to go down underneath the brake booster. See pics:

Around 15,000 miles

You do need to regularly drain the fuel filter and it does increase lifespan but mopar guidelines are 30k, most anyone I know sticks to around 15k

these are the filters I use, and I worked with the company to design them for the ecodiesel.
http://stores.ebay.com/Automotive-P....0l+turbo+diesel&submit=Search&_sid=229862279

Saw this on one of your videos a while back. I ordered 6 along with 6 fuel filters. Also got a special socket/cap to remove the fuel filter and an aftermarket plug for the fuel filter drain plug and the finger valve for the oil drain plug. 1st oil change I had the dealer do, I really don't trust the dealer, well I really don't trust anyone but they said they used all the right stuff. 2nd oil change I procrastinated and took it in without an appointment, they turned me away so I bought the filter from them and used Rotella T6. 3rd oil change I used the above linked filter and fuel filter and used Mobil one ordered through amazon. Hope I didn't screw up anything, but now I swear I can sometimes here the turbo whine once in a while.

View attachment 194 View attachment 195 I've collected a TON of information today. All of it...a bit confusing. I've read a lot and spoke to a lot of people about the interchange of filters between JEEP/RAM. Lets see what you guys have to say.

Hastings Filter # LF696
2014 Jeep 3.0L V6
Notice how it replaces Chrysler OE# 68109834AA which is designated to the JEEP not RAM.

Chrysler OEM # 68229402AA is for the RAM 1500 Eco.

Now obviously you'd come to the conclusion that I did...they're not interchangeable. Im making that assumption based on there being two different part numbers. But a very reputable shop and 30+ year family friend from up North says he uses the LF696 on his Ram Eco. Claims there hasn't been any issues and that's what he recommends at his shop. He pays $28 at NAPA.

I've located that filter on ebay for $12.45...mind blowing, I know! Here's the link...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/191589573706?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-117182-37290-0%2F2%3Fmtid%3D1588%26kwid%3D1%26crlp%3D53601919689_324272%26itemid%3D191589573706%26targetid%3D87946138329%26rpc%3D0.17%26rpc_upld_id%3D51870%26rlsatarget%3D%26device%3Dc%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.com%252Fitm%252Flike%252F191589573706%253Flpid%253D82%2526chn%253Dps%26adtype%3Dpla%26gclid%3DCjwKEAjw5pKtBRCqpfPK5qXatWYSJABi5kTx0466kgA4Ti3fxBUAGRGYXxFQOP-2HnvssKEGctk9nxoCZYvw_wcB%26srcrot%3D711-117182-37290-0%26rvr_id%3D867078602626

On that page you'll notice if you click VIEW DETAILS and then scroll down to ITEM SPECIFICS you'll see it says "Interchange Part Number: 68109834AA" meaning they work on either or.

He also sells a 3 pack of part 68229402AA for $29.34

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/171805548004?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-117182-37290-0%2F2%3Fmtid%3D1588%26kwid%3D1%26crlp%3D53601919689_324272%26itemid%3D171805548004%26targetid%3D87946140009%26rpc%3D0.22%26rpc_upld_id%3D51870%26rlsatarget%3D%26device%3Dc%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.com%252Fitm%252Flike%252F171805548004%253Flpid%253D82%2526chn%253Dps%26adtype%3Dpla%26gclid%3DCjwKEAjw5pKtBRCqpfPK5qXatWYSJABi5kTxF01YbMbho3b_LAafJYBdBtKn2PqBYu6JL_eKI2fBbRoCbzPw_wcB%26srcrot%3D711-117182-37290-0%26rvr_id%3D867067154525

Now around me in the Pittsburgh area, a local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep shop has a sale right now for $130 specifically for the EcoDiesel.

And then I found a website that sells a package deal 1 Mopar filter and 11 quarts. Here it is...
http://idparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4255

Lastly, Kendall oil sells a GT-1 Full synthetic Euro 5W-30 blend for $77 after shipping/tax that meets Chrysler specs. Here that is...
http://www.petroleumservicecompany....m9GHOMUD3az7_CUAT4bqbr_Pv7aya3P3z_BoCeS_w_wcB

Amazon has the Pennzoil Ultra euro l 5w-30 (6- 1 quart bottles) with a $10 coupon for $35.94 shipping included.

Hope we can help each other on this. Thanks

Researching on line I also found the Kendall. I found a place north of me (about 70 miles) in PA that sells it by the drum. Its just over $1K for a drum but doing the math its about 1\2 the cost of buying it by the quart or roughly 11 free oil changes if I remember my math correctly. I'm seriously thinking about buying an entire drum.
