Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

Try a European source, you would be suprised what you can find, start with ebay, I've bought sensor and turbo etc. and sometimes at suprising prices. I had to fix my tone ring and replace the sensor in Aug of 2019. at 125,000 miles. I just got a notification that they would reimburse me today...

To delete or not delete. That is the question

2015 3.0 liter and at 122,000 +- miles did a full delete. I haven't been following this to close lately, but I did today. I did the full delete early 2019 and before I was done I had about 2 grand+ into it. It's a hassle, but I was faced with an out of warranty truck, Def problems, PF and a...

Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

I lost mine at a round 120,000, I was out of warranty and had to fix it myself, but that is all that I have had fail when it comes to sensors. other then doing a full delete because of a leaking egr (I was out of warranty on that to and before they came out with the repair) mine has been good...

    Buying Used... Oil Seepage?

Yea, odd for that kind of mileage. You might Try getting them to fix it as part of a deal or get an estimate to know where your at and cut that off the price. Is it just some loose cover bolts? They have the dye that they add to the oil and use an infrared light of some type that finds the...

    Egr delete

If u do a full or partial delete, be sure you save every nut, bolt and part. On rare occasions dealers have been known to take your parts just in case they need them for recycled parts for some unknown reason, and possibly put your name on them for later reference. You might think that over...

    Eco Diesel engine fires

What a mess. What is the reason or cause (if you have time) for removing the manifold in the picture, I figured from the picture that you are involved with a dealership, that's a plus for all of us. if so, how many miles? Mine was at 117,000-+ when I did the delete, I didn't remove the...

    Eco Diesel engine fires

I'm not quite sure what that means, but you are clear how you feel about your truck. I like mine too. I guess I didn't make my solution clear. The repair/fix that FCA "cannot do", but a cure for the "moment is", Disable the EGR and/or plug off and remove the EGR Manifold tube.(Requires ECM...

    Eco Diesel engine fires

It sounds like we are thinking that the greasy soot accumulation is possible fueling the fire at the very first. The question is what is starting the fire? Your thinking that the fire ignition source, is possibly coming through the valves or swirl valves inside the manifold itself? Your guess...

    Eco Diesel engine fires

Having done a full delete (about 117,000 miles), I noticed that while removing the EGR tube, there was a noticeably thick diesel greasy soot from the EGR recirculating around 30% to 40% of the exhaust/and sparks through the intake manifold, and there is soot deposited on the inside walls of...

Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

I had to replace both the ring and the sensor, and after looking at them, I quessing it is not if it happens, but when it happens. The heat just puts cracks in the magnetic tape on the ring, and there is going to be a failure.

Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

I have managed to skip most of the FCA fix issues because of necessity and mileage. I got rid of the "engine problems", left it at the stock horsepower. It just runs, great mileage. I'm at 131,000.. Good luck.

Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

I didn't know that they would cover the tone ring and crank sensor after the 100,000 mile warranty. Mine has been deleted so I have never let them put a plug into the engine.

while you at it, check the rear oil seal.

Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

My 2015 eco diesel had 36,000/100,000 mile 5 yr. drive train warranty from FCA, I would think yours has one too, even if your a second owner, I would sure as hell ask. (I bought my pickup new). As an example, I developed a slight rear oil seal crankshaft leak at at 99,000 miles and they fixed...

Crankshaft positioning sensor and Tone Ring Failure on Eco diesel.

When I lost mine at 120,000 , a peace of tape off the tone ring hit the sensor and wrecked it. The sensor is what is really expensive, the sonic Ring is like 150.00 , your sensor may be ok. But if it's not, your in for about $450.00 from FCA. A SENSOR from NAPA is about 92.00. If you are over a...

to delete or not delete that it the question

Sorry I Just got back from Moab for thanksgiving, the EGR just sits on top and to the right of the valve cover of the head and and there are no water ports that feed it from the head and the block. Just a heater water hose that goes into the EGR then out of the EGR to a hose that goes to the...
