With the same rate/risk of failure in the replacement Motor. When the New one installed OAs from Day 1 it's the only possible way/warning of impending failure, OAs need trends to be accurately used.
Anyone that Purchases Ram VM 3.0 after 2016 makes a bone head move, that engine was failing at rates of a 100 to 250 Per week From Jan 1 2016 to DEC 2016 and the power plant still puking in 2022. Geez, it's been 6 years take the blinders off.
Master Mechanic that's NOT a fuel expert....It will be interesting what pump Stallentis uses, The in tank Pump that's in all Ram 1500s won't be capable for any CP3 GP, and it won't certainly be any Cummins versions. Plus there are close to 1 million Ford 6.7L using the same CP4 as the VM 3.0...
That pump is available at $550.00 and takes less than 1 hrs to Install. The Used Lube good for rotating surfaces, but over time it will create more Ash in The SCR, now of course if the SCR is missing its not a problem.
HOAT and OAT is good for 10 Years or 150K miles, just flush it and replace. I've seen power plants with 800K miles or 12000 hrs with passage that were clean.
Z. The fanatical EPA and the current Admin were served a BIG blow buy the SC, they no longer can just set near 0 Measures or make wild claims like External EGR are required.... Once this is challenged in COURT the EPA will lose, it to risky for them to pursue right now. The current Lie-O-Cratic...
The problem with CP4 (regardless of Ver) its unforgiving and very destructive unlike the CP3. Feed the CP4 with good lube and clean fuel it can reach 500K miles, why do I say that, because I have confirmed that on several CP4 replacements.
I would not trust anyone other than trained Techs for OAs... Big truck Shops have specific methods to gather the sample, The One Sample that shows High level of Sodium is because I did NOT brake clean My Fumoto Drain Valve and just the residual MN salt on the exterior surface on the valve from...
OAs will allow time for decision(s)...We used them for years, never has a trend been false, also you do NOT condemn powerplants on 1 result, at times they are flukes. If the motor goes out of production you're really screwed, It's not like millions have been produced for the aftermarket to jump...
Its a Hero / Zero Motor, If the entire rotating mass is machined and tight tolerances are met it will last with proper maintenance. You still need to deal with all the other short comings on the 3.0VM. Is it worth the risk to You?
Its likely that the New Hurricane Motor will end the VM 3.0...
