I pass smog tests with GDE tune installed. And, here in Califunny we probably have the strictest smog test in the USA.
Have not heard of anyone failing a smog test with a GDE tune installed.
I have to respectfully disagree with some of TC's statements.
1 - I have never heard of an ED problem resulting from using additives.
2 - The refinery chemist's statement "can possibly cause separation" is vague. Today's additives do not cause separation of the refinery's additives. Call any...
Vern,
Last I heard was PPEI still able to sell in CA but don't know if it shuts off EGR. I doubt that it does, that's probably why they are still able to sell in CA.
Would like to know if someone else has the ability you mention. It would help a lot of Californians who can no longer get the...
Bob,
FCA did not intentionally cheat like Volkswagon, they failed to notify EPA of an emissions change which caused the furor at the almighty Federal and Califunny EPA departments.
The soot problems are a result of the EGR system required by EPA. And, it is exacerbated when the vehicle is...
Bob,
You said, " FCD just agreed to a big settlement that will give owners a big cash payment to comp them for problems so that seems to support the case for many problems."
That "big settlement" had nothing to do with past problems. It only had to do with the EPA emission system case...
George,
Sorry, haven't discussed either issue with him.
I removed foam, etc. based on comments on various forums where overall consensus was it wasn't needed.
Had no need regards Banks as I have the GDE tune. Have read about it but that's all.
You may have answered your own question.
Bob Herr makes sense but IMO he overstated the maintenance cost and perhaps the cost to own. I wouldn't argue those costs because for me I wanted the Ecodiesel. It's a matter of what do you want, decide and go for it.
I would buy another Ecodiesel in...
I removed the cover and all the foam. The one over the injection pump was a pain. Engine is now louder, but I like the sound and hate the extra non-functional crap
Makes sense if it meets Eco specs, I'm not aware of any negatives.
You got me beat, my 2016 just turned 14,600 miles. I change oil and filter once a year, averaging less than 5,000 miles.
Where did you get the lights?
Can't remember, had them laying around for a while. Probably off eBay
How/where did you connect the new lights.
See post #2
I mounted two 7" cubes/bars as backup lights and tapped onto the backup light wiring at the rear of the truck. Working fine, no problems.
Welded tabs onto the hitch tube to get the lights up high and further back. Here's a pic of the radio screen at night.
Brian is in Iowa so he's good to go with GDE. If Califunny hit -23 degrees for 48 hours there would be mass hysteria and the illegals would return to their native countries. o_O (y)
