It had 14343 miles when I bought it, records were very few, just a couple of service jobs, the tailgate latch and one other very minor recall. I tuned it in July, stage 1 SFT, running distilled water now with the DEF & doing great, Tune shut down the EGR which from all I've read is the main...
I would think it would be covered if the truck is still under warranty. Mine is the same year, got it a year ago today (DECEMBER 30, 2019) it's been a great ride, I've done almost 20,000 since buying, lacking 200 miles, I'll do that on Monday the 4th. I'm in a Big Horn DelMonico red 4x4 crew cab.
Yes, the newer tunes are in a handheld device, GDE has a compliant tune that may not affect your warranty, I wanted a tune that would shut down the EGR, so I went with SFT.
I wouldn't waste my money, BUT, if ya just want to get rid of 60 bucks just send it to me! JK LOL Probably the easiest and cheapest will be a PEDAL COMMANDER or SPRINT BOOSTER, they just modify your throttle signal, and they work, seems like they're around 300 bucks. from there your next best...
Unfortunately, no, unless I'm missing something, maybe the DPF needs to be 80% or more I've read that the EDGE CTS 2 allows a forced regen & assumed the 3 would also since it's a newer model/upgrade, I guess it's one of those "schtuff" happens situations! I pack ALFAOBD with me so I should be...
I have a scangauge 2 with xX gauge technology & the programming that has been modified, every PID available at the time was put in, I don't use it because I prefer the Edge CTS 3, I might consider selling it. If you should happen to decide on the scangauge, make sure you get the one with X...
I highly recommend a stand alone gauge such as EDGE CTS 2 or 3, or SCANGAUGE2 that can be set to watch regen info, SCANGAUGE is about $150.00 whereas the EDGE will be about 400, the EDGE is easier to setup since the SCANGAUGE must have some basic coding done by the user for some PID's.
Not knowing, THAT'S WHY I RECOMMEND SOMETHING THAT CAN BE SET TO SEE THESE THINGS. Before I did the tune mine would regen about every 100 miles or so, since tuning it's about 600 miles or so. also running a mix of DEF & distilled water.
You could tune it & pull the tune & return to stock for smog tests. I would advise you to install something to monitor things better than what ram provides, I would suggest an EDGE CTS2 or CTS 3, also suggest setting it to monitor regens & when it stars make sure you allow it to finish, these...
Do y'all notice one brand giving better or worse fuel mileage per gallon. I noticed the CHEVRON where I fill up has gone up in a week, 6 cents a gallon, from 2.23.9 to 2.29.9.
I like that! "LOCAL TRUCK STOPS" LOL! A few years ago we couldn't get light class diesel here, now we have a CHEVON & a SHELL, both have diesel now, & I think 3 stations between here and the Mexican border that sell diesel. But there are 3 truck stops about 42 miles north, a LOVES and 2 PILOTS.
I found a site a while back and there was a guy that claimed to mix lacquer thinner in his fuel tank, I think he said he put a gallon in, there was a site that was devoted to it, I would be SERIOUSLY worried about lubrication.
Has anyone tried different fuel brands to see how their fuel mileage compares to other brands. I've been using QT and CHEVRON exclusively, they're the same price, and initially I thought the CHEVRON was going to shine, but they come in about the same, right around 21-23mpg depending on my foot.
