It is called "in-use compliance testing" and happens on all models if EPA calls an application out. For obvious reasons, the ecodiesel is on EPA radar and will be under more scrutiny.
The compensation they are offering is paltry. On the bright side, FCA will most likely have to change several...
I did not respond because you and Jimmy are not making sense. The ESC and TSC feature you list are stock features and ESC is off automatically in 4LOW. Please look at a wiring diagram of these vehicles and the CAN bus LIDs. ESC and TSC are controlled by the ABS module. Your information and...
Considering there is no CARB EO associated with this part, then it is the same as a tune...illegal, according to EPA interpretation of tampering rules. Second part, this cooler would not pass the required emission testing to obtain an EO based on it's design. The Stock EGR cooler is a plate...
Green Diesel Engineering is based in metro Detroit. All our development is stateside. Hard to develop a Ram tune in Europe as the vehicles were never sold there. The European affiliate is just an sales arm for some vehicles we tune that are sold in Europe like the Jeep Liberty, Grand...
^^^SKT does not change pilot timing or quantity events. GDE produces much less engine out PM (soot), so it does not need to regen as often.
Keep in mind the DPF is roughly 6 liters volume. Most manufactures target 5-7 grams/liter of soot loading to trigger a regen event.
It was mostly in the 2014 model year. There was some aluminum machining that did not get adequately cleaned in the cylinder heads during assembly. These particles got stuck between the aluminum plates in oil cooler. Over time, vibration wears a hole in the plate and oil/coolant start mixing...
We have not had any failures from the GDE tune. All the failures from our customers have been the typical bearing issue or a failed oil cooler. We had one guy tune his engine that had ticking from the bottom end, we told him it did not have long. It lasted 6 hours and then he got a new engine...
Last time we checked, CARB was not accepting applications for an EO on the ecodiesel due to EPA lawsuit. They should start opening it up later this year as that suit just got finalized.
^^Scary stuff there, overdosing will lead to other issues. Looking forward to the long term feedback a year from now. Keep in mind, we have been working with these engines since their inception back in 2005 on the Cadillac. Bad things happen to the SCR substrate with overdosing.
^^^ they are selling illegally in CA. The legal way is to get an EO (executive order) to sell aftermarket parts. We found this out when CARB came knocking on our door. An expensive lessen for us. CARB will find those selling illegally given time.
John, You misread our comment. He was asking about DEF. We never turned DEF system off in your vehicle. It was always dosing, even if you put water in it (the is a cleaning agent for urea). It seems the tune Steve has is disabling the DEF and that could pose issues down the road if left...
Let us know how that turns out in 6 months or so. We have found that is the DEF is turned off for an extended time, it will not turn back on without many codes and expensive parts.
GDE has better street performance, better fuel economy, more linear response, cleaner engine oil and less turbo lag vs. any competition. The delivery mechanism (Bench flash vs. OBD) is minor. The fuel economy improvement with GDE pays for the tune in about 40,000 miles.
