I would change it to the factory spec. Honestly, I would say it's your own fault though for not verifying the oil to be used prior to the service. Those small service stations seem to use whatever is in their barrel for every vehicle, usually 5W30.
I bought my ED strictly for the fuel efficiency with no intentions of pulling a trailer. Has anyone heard of mechanical or engine failures occurring in vehicles not used for towing? Are these issues possibly related to towing? I understand the vehicle is rated to tow just under 10k lbs and so...
I find John's posts ill informed and just plain annoying. He is obviously not even in the same universe as TC Diesel is when it comes to knowledge of this subject matter. John, read more, post less.
Damn it, I have never heard of these. I spent $650 on the factory steps. I would have gladly spent a grand on these instead. Next time I guess. :(
Brady, after using them for a winter season, are you still happy with them? Does the accumulated under carriage snow and ice have any effect on...
The GDE tune completely changes the way the motor was designed to function, if you don't think that is grounds for FCA to void the warranty, you are nuts.
I don't understand buying a truck (which has proven to have a history of engine issues) with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and then voluntarily telling FCA, "No thank you, I don't want your warranty, I'm going to opt for this after-market device and roll the dice with my engine issues"...
Just the clear honey colored bottle. I think its called Howes Diesel Treatment. It prevents gelling in the winter and adds lubricity all seasons. Directions are on the bottle.
I use Archoil AR6200 and Howes in my fuel. I use Amsoil and Archoil AR9100 in the crankcase.
I'm a bit of a motorhead and these additives give me a warm fuzzy feeling, like I'm giving my dog a treat.
Harley, I have always been a K&N guy. I've used their air filters and oil filters in all my vehicles. I have done a lot of research in the last month since I bought my ED. One of the alarming things that I've read is that oil analysis results from trucks using the K&N air filter showed high...
Jack, tell us how you used your truck. Was it just a fuel sipping daily driver, or was it a trailer puller? What kind of oil did you use? Don't interpret this as looking to place blame.. I'm a scared new owner of a 16 wondering what may be coming my way.
I did the same thing. My salesman said that they did the service but that they didn't have the oil cap sticker or the owner's manual supplement on hand. I thought to myself, "Yeah right, this asshole thinks I'm an idiot". So i go out to the garage and take another look under the hood. Sure...
Based on 50000 miles average over 5 years, that's 2 grand in fuel savings. And I gotta believe the ED will have a much higher resale value.
So which one do you prefer driving and why?
