If you run into cold weather and frost covered or snowy roads, be very careful with the cruise control. I strongly discourage cruise control use in the winter months. The diesels have incredible torque and when in 2WD it doesnt take much traction loss to get those wheels spinning.
FCA wouldn't have changed the oil spec unless the old spec was causing damage to engines. Get that shit out immediately and use 5-40. That's my advice.
My 2016 with just 1700 miles on it just got out of the shop for the exact same condition. The dealer called an hour after I dropped the truck off and said it was ready. They said an electrical connection for the DEF system under the truck had disconnected. All they did was reconnected the...
Tires extending beyond fenders are unlawful for road use. So to be legal, you will have to add fender extensions. Or, you can press your luck with the cops.
Personally, I would have waited the next 15k miles until your warranty runs out. This engine seems to be experiencing a lot of warranty claims. Playing with fire giving up your warranty. They won't cover a tuned engine. Good luck to you.
Exactly why I changed my own oil after the first thousand miles. You just can't trust most dealerships. And if you're like me, you don't trust anything unless you did it yourself.
I recently put a topper on my truck too. But now I get a tail light out message when I start the truck. Of course, no tail light is out in reality.
What did you guys do about this? Or do you just live with the message?
I agree, my low beams are not at all what I expected. Also, it's quite disappointing that in 2016 Ram isn't supplying daytime running lights (like every other manufacturer) without taking your truck to the service department and having them go into the brain box and activate some special dealer...
Not to change the subject, but does anyone know the scoop on the '17s? I'm guessing it's possibly in regard to engine failures? Or possibly having to re-certify their mileage claims since the change in oil spec? Whatever the reason in the delay, it would be awful interesting to know.
sounds like firestone airbags (aftermarket). just adjust to your liking for ride quality. It's a near certain indicator the previous owner used it for towing.
Thank you. I run about 10,000 miles a year and have never owned a vehicle beyond 7 years. So maybe I'll just service my fluids and filters religously and let the next owner worry about those longer term pitfalls.
I have a question for TC Diesel. Knowing what you know about the ED, if you were to buy a brand new one off the lot today, is there any mods at all you would perform to your engine/drive train? If so, would these mods void the warranty? If so, is there anything a new ED owner can do to make...
