I would do it as soon as you possibly can. Not continuing to pour EGR valve exhaust back down into your engine will greatly improve performance and reliability and fuel economy.
They are a great truck. The Ford 6.0 diesel had a rough start in life but today it is one of the most desirable engines in dieselland. So what can you do to reduce your risk of a problem? Delete the EGR valve and the EGR cooler. Do that, clean the MAP sensor and the swirl valves, flush the...
Go to greendieselengineering.com and order the hot tune for the ecodiesel. It will greatly improve your truck. Ask them to put "gift" on the description so you avoid that nasty VAT!
Glad you bought it new and glad you are considering the GDE hot tune. I stumbled onto GDE after a guy told me I made a huge mistake buying my truck in 2015 due to engines grenading. 80% of my driving is highway and 20% is stop and go. The truck says I average 26.5 mpg. I average 78 mph on...
I've run the GDE tune since 5k miles, I think you will be pretty happy.
I am not sure how to clean the intake or how to flush the engine. Check in the maintenance forum to see what others have done before.
Whenever I read these articles that say: "I just bought a used Eco diesel and after 50 miles it is doing X, Y and Z"
I always think, I bet the last person traded it in for the same reason! One thing is for sure, the dealers don't do much more than a quick detail on these trucks and push them...
I run the Lucas injector cleaner a couple times a year. I could not tell you if it does any good or not. My truck has 75k miles and has never had any kind of problem. GDE since 5k miles.
I would just ask to speak to the service manager. You can also call FCA customer care. https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/article/How-do-I-contact-Ram
API CJ-4 5W-40 full synthetic. Rotella T-6 or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. These are both under 25 dollars a gallon at Walmart. Amsoil says it is better but it is so expensive!
I would go to the dealer and ask the Service Manager if there is a TSB on this. The 2019 has this problem but your truck has 98k miles so I guess it is not a 2019. I suspect a bad connector.
It has already been signed by FCA and the Government. The only thing left is the judge in the case to sign it. The document i posted is the top two pages of the agreement plus the list of items that will be covered for an addition 42k miles (I believe). If you go to this site...
Try the GDE tune, i think you will be happy. I will get my ECM flashed for the settlement, but I will have that in my truck for maybe 5 minutes till i can swap my GDE tuned ECM back in.
...and with the settlement it will be covered under warranty. Show your dealer this document, signed by FCA, and ask them to call FCA and get the repair approved.
Continuing saga of spun main bearings and thrown rods. Can I ask what oil you used and whether the truck was running a stock tune or something like the GDE tune or Banks Bullet?
