EGR valves (exhaust gas re-circulation) takes exhaust and pumps it right back into your intake. It spews an oily tar all over your intake and helps deposit that same tar throughout your engine. It puts soot into your oil, reducing its ability to lubricate your engine. It is an engine killer...
I can only give the best advice I know. You gotta turn off those EGR valves to maximize your mileage and engine longevity. I did it with a GDE tune when my truck had 5k miles on it. It has never averaged less than 26 MPG. I rarely tow. The soot in the intake, all over the swirl valves and...
You said they blamed the oil change company. You need to be real careful with who you let change the oil in this truck and what oil they use. You need to use 100% synthetic CJ-4 oil and not jiffy lube swill. This little engine does not like bad oil at all.
I think JMF157 is right on the...
My mix driving average on the truck's computer is 27 mpg. After driving on the interstate for a couple hours at 77mph (my cruise control speed) it bumps up to 29. I use Rotella T6 or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 oil. But most importantly I am using an ECM that was tuned by Green Diesel...
you did that hot tune and that is the best thing you can do. You likely do good oil changes with 5w40 synthetic so I think you are set to run it for years and years. I did the hot tune as well and keeping that soot out of the oil is the most important thing. I think that FCA needs to change...
I have the 2015 ED, stock, but it is the HFE version with vinyl upholstery, cheap radio, no remote entry (keys in the lock). My trade in at 75k miles is 19k. The sticker was 38k and I paid 33k. At 4 years and 75k miles I thought it was kind of fair.
The oil temperature sensor (3) is located on the oil filter housing next to the engine oil cooler.
I bought a CD off ebay that is the factory shop manual. It has all three engines that go in the 1500 and cost 17 bucks. It is not exactly a perfect copy but pretty good. it answered your...
I am not going to opt out. I might if the truck had caused me a lot of trouble. My experience has been ideal, it is has never had a single repair. When my engine warranty is up at 100k I am going to do the full delete and run it until the wheels fall off.
I understand the new eco's (2020)...
I checked mine to make sure. Mine are perfect. Did you follow the link i provided? If so, i would just email them and let them know the disk is corrupt.
that's what blew up all those Ford 6.0 engines. The EGR cooler failed, the coolant went through the turbo into the cylinders, the water expanded in the cylinders and the pressure blew out the head bolts. I am not kidding when I say EGR's are the devil!
The coolant can also go into the EGR diffuser pipe and into your intake. That would more likely explain the poor running - its burning coolant. Park it is my advice.
