Should be easier now that Chrysler owns the company. Seems there was a time when GM was in on the deal, but backed out at some point which should make it easier for Chrysler to get the engines. Owning the VM Motori company also allows Chrysler to manufacture the engine in the states.
Going In for service on Thursday. Regens seem to be happening randomly now and the soot % jumps all over the place on my CTS. This is very strange behavior. If I were a betting man, I would have to say that there is a sensor somewhere that is acting up. More to come....
Purchased a shell from Softtopper. It was extremely easy to order, came via UPS, and installed in minutes with my 12 year old son. Purchsed the front window option and replacement screens for the front and rear of the top. Less than half of the price of a hard shell, easier, to fold up or...
If the SCR fails, this is serious and costly. SCR failure can cause the truck to not be drivable. You may be fortunate in that the SCR should be covered under warranty. Not in all cases, but if you keep an eye on the regeneration phases of the truck you may be able to head off serious issues...
Chrysler kind of fell into this. GM was already looking at this motor and I believe owned a percentage of the Motori VM coporation. However, GM eventually pulled out leaving Chrysler as the only suitor left wanting to purchase the engine. It was originally developed for use in BMW vehicles.
I...
It is possible to get more mpg out of the truck? The answer is yes.
I have repeatedly gotten more than 30 mpg, but was mostly highway that is level, in great shape, and I was able to anticipate hills by accelerating a bit prior to going up hills. Keeping the truck in 8th gear is key and...
I read this same post on another forum. After reading it, my understanding is that the DEF system detects that is was not working at top efficiency possibly due to crystallization in the DEF line and/or injector. I do not drive a lot of miles (approximately 12 to 15K per year, so I suspected...
Had this happen to me the first month after purchasing the truck. Turns out that eventually my battery died. Turned out to be an improperly tightened nut on the charging wire for the alternator.
As a result of the battery charge going down, the system was able to detect that remote start...
Hi. I'm not familiar with the Torque App. I know that the ScanTool 2 and the Edge Insight CS and CTS are both advertised to work with this specific truck. I looked into various other products (Bully Dog, Diablo, Jett, and others), but the two that I mentioned were the only two that I could...
I have installed one of these scanners in my 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and has proved to be very valuable. As a result of installing this device, I can now see when the truck is in a regeneration state. during this time, the EGT3 and EGT4 sensors reach temps as high as 1200 plus degrees. As a...
I've noticed recently that the DPF seems to fill quickly causing the truck to go into a passive regeneration cycle. No rhyme or reason, but after completing its last cycle, the soot level in the DPF was around 9% according to my Edge Insight Monitoring system. Started her up the next morning...
I just can't let my oil go for 10k miles. The oil is just so dirty that I change it myself every 5k between dealer changes. Was able to get filters off ebay for real cheap and probably have enough for the rest of the life of the truck :)
I also replace one quart of oil with 1 quart of Lucas...
