CHILL! This is a general observation..

Bump!!! I feel as if I should refresh this to remind others, yes the motor has issues, yes the chassis have issues. It’s man made, ITS GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS. Let’s be a group of problem solvers, not a group who is quick to call them lemons and the doomed. Most of us have good rigs so far, and...

Welcome! IMO the soot should be of less concern than the coolant that the egr can potentially dump into the intake and find itself into the block/oil. If you are changing your oil at recommended intervals you should be okay. Best bet is to delete the egr and roll on with your truck!

If you unplug it and the vacuum line you can leave it in place and block off the diffuser tube

Stage one should allow removal of egr. Unplug the two connectors On egr and see if it throws a code. If it does email jimmy and see if he can rewrite tune for you

    New recall?!?

Yeah it’s a reflash of the computer to allow the engine to run if the magnets fly off of the crankshaft. Problem is, they don’t fix the actual tone ring so your still pissing in the wind, just able to keep pissing once it flies apart. To fix the tone ring and sensor trans has to be pulled. So it...

Low voltage battery, new alternator and still not charging.

Check over your fuses, grounds for the motor, and wiring from alternator to battery

    P203E

I found this thread from a few years ago. In my opinion of you replaceced the tank and still have issues I would start chasing ground wires down and check over all electrical connections under and inside the truck. https://www.ecodieselram.com/forum/threads/p203e-code.989/
