My Truck "jerks" or "kicks" hard while driving.

Engine : Fuel or ignition. There are no ignition coils on a diesel, therefore would be glow plug. Fuel it would toss a code, not sure for injector issues. Trans: Fluid level doesn't throw a code either. Note that when cold trans fluid level is lower, and expands with heat. My truck was low...

My Truck "jerks" or "kicks" hard while driving.

Check the trans fluid level. There is a procedure to do this, running in idle, level pan, after cycling through the gears.

    Harmonic Balancer Bolt

I do cars teardown, 15:00 min mark. "Reverse thread I guess" clockwise impact it spins off pretty nicely. Heat is always a good primer - like a propane torch, but I never used one on a crank bolt. It's a left handed thread, so if you are facing the front of the engine clockwise is the correct...

Dead Eco Diesel engine at 51,000.

Man that's my worst nightmare. Lucky they are doing the work. Mine was significant cost to get back on the road. But it's been great. We just started Airstreaming and planning a Cali trip this December - coming down from Vancouver BC. Current plan, first stop is Trinidad, not going too South (SF...

    Unleash the beast

Spent all day on the truck de-rusting the rear brakes/p-brakes, Installed 1.5" spacers which transformed the handling OMG it is planted now. Did a run up 0-60 to clock a time—surprisingly quick. was 2WD with traction control on. 1.5" Wheel Spacers, Ceramic Front brake kit Anti-Gravity H8 80AH...

    FCA Engine Replacement

Garrett at PDRDiesel.com Only issues : I was down a liter of tranny fluid, figured that out after driving it for 6 mons. Took forever to heat up at first, thought it was the T-stat. I put a new one in, but I think it just needed to be run-in/full coolant flow to heater core etc Here's the...

    Something positive

Just pulling our rig back to Vanc Island from Cannon Beach, Or. 12.9L/100km fantastic. It's deleted tho, so no worries ;) Dreaming of our next trip which is probably California this winter. Soo many choices - any recommendations for a smaller, hip & trendy, beautiful location/RV resorts?

    High Oil temperature

That's a condition that was known and sold to you defective. Proper business ethics should apply in this case not the 3 days policy. Sounds like a problem with the oil cooler circuit tho. Do you have a service history?

Engine running very hot when towing over mountain passes

Engine Temp = Horsepower (T*rpm) + Ambient - Cooling capacity. So at that power output, adding in the ambient, you get a certain temp on the gauge. Higher the ambient, higher the gauge. I think it's ok, steady state no problem. Lot of ponies in a small space too. So I thought why not use some...

    glow plug

Glow plugs don't open. They are passive elements, activated electrically for start-up. Fuel Injectors can be open/closed My CEL never went off in the years I had the DEF/DPF on. Until the dealer replaced the NOx sensor and the engine cratered a few weeks later.

ZF 8 Speed Fluid level... 1.5 liters down

Only 30K miles on my 2015 and my trans was acting like low fluid. Slipping in reverse, hard shifts and I got an incorrect gear code once. All much worse when the trans is cold. So I thought how could my fluid be low?...no leaks and 30K miles? But I had my engine replaced, so I figured they...

    Is there a Canadian settlement

Legal this, legal that. I've been to small claims a few times before. My approach these days is to roll with it, find a solution, pay the bucks and move on with life. The used engine, drop in and delete was under $20K CAD.

    Is there a Canadian settlement

Highly suggest a delete if in Canada. After failure at just 50K kms I called around found a recommended shop specializing in diesel work,. Dropped in a used engine and it's been a different truck. Drives great (no lag), tows and fantastic economy. No DEF required, lighter weight after all that...

    FCA Engine Replacement

In Canada it's a crook-show. So gave up early on FCA even though my 2015 had just 30K miles. Luckily there is a great shop PDQ diesel and I shipped them a good used engine from AAA wreckers in Prince George. Also great guys. About a month and $20K CAD later it was all back together, with some...

    Should I keep this truck?

Kept mine and it's towin' like a champion. I got like 12L/100km on this trip which is better than my Range Rover unladen ;) 2nd engine and fully deleted (unfortunately). However, deletes are not an option for most I guess now. . I really think it's the counter-torque or push back from the DPF...

    Bed Racks and Tonneaus

Here's the handi-work - propped up some boards and bikes for the pix, The fabrication I did was: Modified cover frame (tailgate) for rack clearance Two holes up front for supports 4x EV A Foam blocks, velcro in at the 4 points 2x 100mmAcetal bike skewer mounts, tapped with 4x M6 bolts to mount...

    Bed Racks and Tonneaus

I have a light vinyl folding cover by Galaxy that's pretty good. I replaced the heavy finger killer hard panel cover that I had there. So wanted to keep that tonneau but there is no room to install racks. The integrated systems are $$$ and don't like that option much as they usually have slider...

    Park Assist Service Sensors

I cleaned all connections with LPS electric cleaner. That's all good. I marked the sensors and confirmed faulty or near faulty, swapping them into the left front. Which is easy to do, just turn the wheel, bend back the inner fender and jack up a bit. Clip in one sensor and let the mayhem begin...

    Park Assist Service Sensors

Solved it. I have the rear circuit working back to normal. 3 of the 4 sensors were bad! I had to use the FRONT circuit as a test bed, & check/verify the used sensors I pulled off the back bumper With 2 NEW Bosch sensors from Lordco auto parts ($80 each). One good sensor from front, the Rear...

    Park Assist Service Sensors

I spent two hours fiddling with the rear circuit. One new "ebay" sensor plugged in will create 3, sometimes 4 faults. 4 ebay sensors give 4 faults. One bad Bosch sensor, with 4 Bosch installed, will trigger 1 or 2 faults. So it's hard to isolate but I did manage to narrow it down to one...
