Correct, I was not leaking. I didn't think the upgrade was optional, the recall said the cooler "may be susceptible to thermal fatigue". That's what was causing the fires.
" That would be great if the dealer would listen. "
You can "opt out" of the AEM emissions upgrade and still get the new warranty, you only forfeit the check. It's your truck, the dealer has to listen. If you tell him not to do the flash he has to honor your request.
Definitely get the recall done before the tune. If you don't and you get the tune, you have to then get the recall (AEM) update tune after the recall flash. That's another $50.00 and doing the install all over again.
Keep it simple - get the recall flash before the tune.
2016's aren't ready? They did my 2016 on May 4. They didn't call and say they were ready, I just took it in and said I was ready for all the recalls. They did 3 or 4 including the AEM emissions flash and EGR cooler (mine was not leaking).
My dealer has had no reason to count flashes. Plus, my Service Manager knows I have a tune, he supports it. He even asks me when I show up, did you return to stock? When I had the GDE tune he would remove the tuned ECU, and install my stock ECU. When finished he would have my tuned ECU put...
I was approved last year, did not do the flash as rumors said a new one was forthcoming.
Did the flash 5/5 and received my check 6/18.
Truck performing fine after flash, maybe a decrease in mpg but won't know because I put my SFT tunes back in.
I did the AEM emissions update a couple of weeks ago. Happy to report the truck is performing well and I''m satisfied. Haven't put enough miles on it to evaluate MPG but it seems to have lost a couple. I will never know the MPG factor because I'm putting my SFT ECU & TCU tunes back in.
TC,
The dealer is required by law to install the AEM but the owner is not. The owner can "opt out".
26. How do I get out of the Class Action Agreement?
If you do not want to receive the benefits provided by the Class Action Agreement, and you want to retain the right to sue the Defendants...
TC,
I never gave mine a chance to get 30pg. I leveled it, etc right away, before I made any long highway runs.
Last week I de-tuned it and got the AEM latest flash. Truck runs great, no lag, etc. I won't have an after AEM mpg because I'm putting the tune back in as soon as that update arrives..
They did my 2016 on May 5. I'm happy to report it seems to be performing and shifting as advertised. I've been driving it stock to see if there are any problems like what have been reported. So far none. I will be putting my SFT ECU & TCU tunes back in play as soon as I get the AEM updated tune.
Yes, If GDE isn't already he will have an approved tune. There's no reason not to believe what they are saying about the new tune, Kieth has a good reputation and apparently some good engineers/tune experts available.
What bothers me a bit is GDE has always said it is important to turn off the...
Caveman,
Here's what I've learned. The original GDE tune had long intervals between regens and espoused that it was a cleaner tune (less soot production). However, it has been reported that GDE's cleaner tune came at a cost of high temps. The SFT tune, like the factory tune, has more frequent...
