    Failed ecodiesel

Well I am encouraged today. I sent an oil sample to Blackstone Labs to see what I got back. I will share mine with you. Seems like a good report and I will be following up with another analysis at the end of this oil cycle jut before I change it.

News Ram announces "Harvest" Edition for 2018 Models

Went to the dealer the other day to pick up a quart of Rotella T6. I was casually talking to the parts manager about the "over the air" software update (mine went flawlessly) and he said he was waiting to see what the differences would be from the 2016 to the 2018 ED. According to him they will...

    Who's running a tune

Did you install the Banks tuner yourself? I read the install and it doesn't look to difficult. Wonder how it stacks up against the GDE?

FCA insider document reveals current engine failure rate.

Yep, that is good to hear. OA appears to be a must with these engines and a common theme amongst long lived 3.0's. Got all my stuff to send my first one in to Blackstone this week.

Is your ED completely stock? Has your maintenance been extraordinary or just routine. Thanks in advance for your reply!

Post Your Used Oil Analysis Here

Ordered 2 sample containers from Blackstone labs plus the vacuum pump from Blackstone also. I had an oil change done about 1000 miles ago and will be sending the first sample in this week. I will send the 2nd sample in just before I have my oil changed. That should be a good baseline for future...

    Engine oil Bypass filter

So you have done the GDE tune and have had oil samples done before and after the tune? Any way you could post those results. If you can't that is ok. Super interesting BTW.

    Failed ecodiesel

Thanks for the info. It seems there has been a trend with oil in the coolant on some of the Eco Diesel failures I have read about. A couple Oil Analysis a year might be cheap insurance? I guess if something turned up you could take it in and have it looked at pre emptively?

    Failed ecodiesel

Thank you so much for showing that report. I have ordered a sample kit from Blackstone and will have a couple done over the winter. I will be curious to see what the sampling shows me!

    Failed ecodiesel

A couple questions for you: Where do you get your oil analysis done? How frequently do you have them done? are you saying you think twice a year is sufficient What exactly do you look for in them? sodium levels?

    3.0 longevity

Only have 21500 miles on mine in a little over 2 years. I think my average speed since Day 1 is only about 30 miles per hour. (short, easy commute). I have taken numerous trips towing my 5000 lb camper and it performs flawlessly with towing mpg around 15 to 17. Never had a glitch or complaint...

    Jumpy Sling Short Acceleration

It took me a while to get used to mine too. When I first bought it I thought it was a little abrupt when accelerating from a stop. One thing to remember! Diesels have a throttle! not a gas pedal!

My EcoDiesel is awesome today because:

That seems pretty good, you got about 25mpg on the whole trip!1 BTW, I live in Olympia too!
