Do you have a block heater cord? There should be a block heater, but you may need to get a cord for it. I think I would plug it in going to that much colder climate. As far as oil changes I'm going 6000-7000 miles, and MOPAR fuel filter every other oil change. Tune it with a tune that shuts off...
Does anyone know if there is a standard replacement mirror glass available. I've got stock powerfold heated mirrors and have ALWAYS hated the convex mirrors, I want a true depiction of traffic.
You may need to work them back and forth with penetrating oil to work them loose, I like PB-BLASTER for a penetrant, KROIL is also good, and diesel fuel may work too. Make sure you use a good antisieze on the new plugs.
I also agree with Tremper126, if you have a bad glow plug you'll know it...
The service manual is available on one of the forums, you'll need to search it out, I think one of the members has it in a link to his dropbox, You can also get an alldata subscription for about 30 bucks a year. The manual is very comprehensive and very, very redundant. I have used the alldata...
You can check IDparts .com, I think they're geared more towards CUMMINS, but I buy my oil filters there. Check AMAZON TOO, I found a carburetor for my Yamaha ATV there.
I recall seeing some used parts in one of the forums, I think there was a CP4 pump and injectors & a few other parts, I wish I could remember, but then again I don't know if you'd want used parts. I also want to apologize for sounding kind of snarky, all too often people would not say anything...
I'm glad he's offered to foot the bill, I hate borrowing ANYTHING! On a lighter note, I've found myself with the gas nozzle in my diesel twice, the only thing that saved me was the fact that I'd pushed the diesel fuel button & it wouldn't move product! I certain wish you the best on getting it...
I would also recommend an EDGE INSIGHT, either 2 or 3 monitor, or SCANCAGE 2 to monitor vital engine functions. These engines like to be run on the highway, they seem to regen frequently and a couple of unfinished regens & it will give you th EXHAUST FILTER 80% FULL MESSAGE DRIVE AT HIGHWAY...
ALFAOBD and an MX+ OBD 2 DONGLE & you'll be good to go, check the thread here for MIL descriptions, there's also some copies of the factory manual floating around on some of the FORUMS.
ALFAOBD will allow you to do a manual regen, you can get it & a decent OBD dongle for around a hundred bucks, BUT, def has absolutely nothing to do with regens.
LUGGING occurs when a vehicle can no longer gain or pick-up speed in any situation, it's hard to achieve with an automatic transmission, I've seen and talked with numerous people who will try to force the transmission to hold a higher gear. I've seen people allow the transmission to "hunt" for...
I've seen numerous folks complaining about the transmission not holding 8th gear going up a hill, I guess they want to try to maintain fuel economy, IMO there's NOTHING worse than lugging, if it downshifts, great, if it's hunting between 6th, 7th & 8th, drop it to 6th etc. It's a lot better for...
I use Rotella T6, & a bit of HOTSHOTS FR3, & once in a while some stiction eliminator, I order my filters from IDPARTS.COM, they have a filter that they claim it the EXACT same filter as the MOPAR filter & it looks identical. IDPARTS also sell service paks that includes filters and different oil...
These trucks are not good for a grocery getter, they're much happier on the road. The system is designed to be seemless, BUT, there's no way to know when a REGEN is occurring unless you have some additional gauges, I use an EDGE CTS 3, the CTS 2 will also work and is better in some ways, it...
