The filter should catch it, I wouldn't use anything other than a MOPAR fuel filter as other brands have been known to swell, botton line, if you've got algae then it's had/has some water in the fuel. someone else may chime in about the algae, even though I've worked on many diesels, I've never...
DEF usage is almost not noticeable on these trucks. Does the truck have a noticeable delay when you you get on the go pedal? if not it may be tuned, kinda sucks not knowing and not having the tuner box unless it was an earlier tune that required the ECM to be sent off. I would HIGHLY recommend...
I order my oil filters from IDPARTS.COM, they offer a UFI brand filter that they say is the exact same filter you would get from mopar, but 1/3 the price.
Thank you for your service! Regarding the tune, definitely will help, I went with a stage 1 from SFT, shuts the EGR down & allows the use of distilled water in the DEF tank, I still run some DEF with the water, all in all I'm very satisfied with the tune, if you happen to go with SFT, get the...
Stick with the mopar fuel filter, I've seen stories and pictures of non-mopar fuel filters swelling up. Also you mentioned Shell Rotella 5w40,but you didn't mention which Rotella, T-6 I hope.
Do your research, there's a few options for tuning and tunes will definitely help solve your issues. I'm sure you've noticed the delay at idle of almost 3 seconds, tunes will help. you basucally have less than 6 choices, one tune is EPA compliant, the others can turn of EGR which is one of the...
Why not fab up a heat shield, or wrap the DEF parts with fiberglass heat wrap, or possibly a high heat header spark plug wire cover if it would fit over the connector plug. The shield looks like it would be an easy job.
Welcome! I also have a 17 in DelMonico Red, love the truck, had just over 14000 miles when I bought it on the last day 2019, just turned 38000. Enjoy the truck.
Mine as well, IMO if you continue running a stage 2 tune on a stock exhaust it will be just a matter of time before te DPF will plug, hopefully someone with more info will chime in.
Thanks TC, I'm still learning % figuring out this engine, my age doesn't help either. I had forgotten about the earlier trucks not having a valid sensor.
It's probably gonna go into "safe"(LIMP) mode before long@! I'd be tempted to drain it, siphon it or whatever ya gotta dotry to find a place where you can get it to drain from, & then refill with fresh, OR find a tune that will let you shut off the EGR & RUN DISTILLED WATER.
I'm kinda thinkin that if that's what you think, you should either take it to a reputable shop that has a good system like AUTO ENGINUITY, or find someone that has ALFAOBD and get it checked or spend a hundres bucks & buy ALFA & a OBD dongle for whatever device you may have, it's available for...
I think the the VM 3.0 comes with the heater installed, BUT you have to add your own cord if you didn't get the cold weather package or whatever it's called. I've seen postings about others buying a cord elsewhere and saving a fair amount of money.
