I bought my 2014 used, 20K miles, and I did my normal fuel system service and got the ETC right after filling up, limped home and scanned truck with my home scanner finding no abnormalities, reset and still found no abnormalities. Just a couple of months later another fuel system service and...
It doesn't seem like its been over a year ago when I bought my 2014 eco used, have put about 37,000 miles on it to date. I have experienced some of the code issues that other have related but being a mechanic I have the luxury of investigating my own codes, so far all have been non issues...
Afe makes an excellent product. The WIX fuel filter is now in stock (not special order) and I switched at my last oil change with no issues. Price $20.00 at Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts.
Awesome. The Valvoline Maxlife is a good product, we use the BG full synthetic ATF. The dealer price is what I was referencing, dealer wants $250 to flush. Our cost alone for ATF for flush is around $125 so the dealer flush price is appropriate but the pan drop, filter change is a little high...
I will echo BoostN sentiments. I have experienced this code several times myself, oddly just after fueling? Anyway being a mechanic I carry a scan tool with me for just such occasions. According to FCA's own diagnostic tree (algorithm) you clear code and attempt to repeat code, if engine is...
Maybe Jeep was just more paranoid? Yes there are several aftermarket additional fuel filters available, however most filter to a larger particular size than the OEM spec, 5micron vs. 3micron, so I would be careful to identify the filter specification for particulate size. I am looking into a...
Fuel filters. Most aftermarket add on fuel filters filter to the older standard of >5 microns the ED filters to 3 micron, so the addition of additional fuel filters may only catch more water but not more particulate matter. I have used the OEM, the MANN, which is the manufacturer for the OEM...
Along the thread, I saw the "Insider Information" post when it came out and personally could not make heads nor tails of what it really meant. Through the contacts that I make from one or more of my jobs I have had the pleasure of speaking to several ED owners and none have had any catastrophic...
I hear that. I share the same potential, which is why I sometimes do not post instantaneously and have been known to compose an entire message only to delete and start over to change my tone.
In Oklahoma the dealers could sell every 2017 ED they could get their hands on. However my thought is...
Good talk. I always felt based on TCDiesel's statements that this guy has dealt with Federal Government employees. Mainly because I have too and sometimes speak the same way. I agree with many of TC's conclusions, yes the MS11106 spec oil may be "good oil" but is not the best product for the ED...
Sadly no you are not missing anything. Axctual EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) would be a aftermarket monitor. The chart in the owners manual is an assumption of EGT and an educated guess on appropriate idle times, based on driving conditions and load. Even with modern turbo design, oil and engine...
Yes we both love the square footage interior, she loves the ride and is still amazed at how the diesel runs, she still has a time with the acreage needed to put in a parking slot. My ED has become the vacation travel vehicle over her Charger, which has been the favorite the last several years...
Like BoostN said a lot of factors play in. I found, as did a friend of mine with a 2016, that the short runs yield low mileage, we share a similar drive pattern to our Duty Station, about 40min. or 32 miles with a mix of residential, arterial road, and highway which yielded him about 22 and me...
Yes a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. I predict that the Criminal trial will result in Administrative fines for failure to notify on original certification filing. I think the approval of the 2017, even at this horribly belated time, is a signal that the EPA & CARB agree that the software...
I have used MOPAR and MANN (which by the way is the manufacturer of MOPAR brand filters) and WIX. I have had no issues with any in my ED. I did have a no oil pressure issue with a WIX in a KIA, replaced filter with new WIX with no further issue, bad filter.
