I'm with you on the offset being too much, it's a nice truck but definitely not my preference.
What MPG figures do you see with the wide tires and lift?
Oil changes via the book are at 10k intervals, but it states the truck is ok to run up to b20 I believe? And at which it recommends a shorter oil interval I believe 7k? Check your owners manual for verification on that.
Have about 8k on them now, no visible wear, still howl down the road but not too obnoxiously. Seem to be holding up really well. Worst winter MPG I've seen is 15 or so, I average out between 17 and 19 depending on speed. Not terrible from my old 22 average. And i'll probably sit closer to 19-22...
It sounds like the dealership is sticking it to you, they have no business charging you for oil changes at 150 miles when the computer is faulting out. I acknowledge there may be an issue with your truck but the service department is doing nothing to correct that
I'd think more like a faulty thermostat if you're overheating the engine and running the heater full blast in the cab is blowing cold, it could be stuck on the closed engine loop. Heck if the coolant system has been opened and not properly bled it could even be air locked. That would cause...
I'd Retrofit with a oem projector from your quad beam reflector setup then put in an hid system, it's a great look and very good light output. As boostn stated, you also will not blind everyone oncoming.
I know many guys aren't fond of the factory rims but I've got 275/65/20 without a lift or even level and everything fits perfect. Tire dimensions are 34.5"x11, it's just a skinny 35.
Even aired down in entry/exit no rub.
I'm a firm believer in maintaining offset and I think that is your...
Welcome Scott, it's a very enjoyable truck and powertrain that is for sure! I sounds like you are driving as much as I was when I got mine. I put 10k the first 3 months and 29k for the first year. About to turn 2 years and 43k near flawlessly!
The only change is cold viscosity, 40 opposed to 30. That's not really going to effect anything. The computer flash update is to keep engine rpms closer to 2k opposed to being able to drop into 8th at 55-60 and see 1400rpms where there can be some excessive load and engine lugging with a "less...
Actually yes you could run it through a lap top. It is just a Bluetooth adapter for the obd2 port and an android application. There are others out there but I like this enough to have purchased the app.
I have a 7" wifi tablet also I Used to keep in the truck to run it but it's really not...
Happily I can report that my CEL is now off. I did NOT clear the fault code whatsoever. Friday-Tuesday morning and it was all good. No big deal.
By the way I have bulk pump Def from the big rig lane if it is of any concern.
My HID system works great with Auto function. If you want "DRL" with such just cover the photo cell on the dash with electrical tape and you have always on exterior lighting when the vehicle is running.
The transmission filter is integrated with the transmission pan, completely unrelated to engine oil or pan. The extra capacity pan is just for peace of mind for those under extreme load, aka frequent tt tow'ers. Alternatively just change the oil before the 10k. Simple enough
