As I mentioned over the phone, the defect reports have been submitted for 14MY, 15MY,

16MY.

We have a bearing problem due to premature bearing wear due to inadequate oil film thickness

at low rpm I high engine torque conditions.

The near term solution is to change the engine oil from 5W-30 to 5W-40. The higher viscosity

leads to a thicker oil film at the bearing.

Comments taken form 595 page memo on EPA / FCA History , If its Not Public Now I would expect it to become Public soon.. I've had it for some time, I do Thank the person that sent it to Me (Whoever that might be)

I stand By my last 3 years of Statements that the 3.0 had QC issue's. My 3.0 has been Flawless after I replaced 2 undersides Main Bearings Back in May 2015. The 3.0 is Hero Zero status up to the un-jailing 17s, the 2017 is having a real struggle starting/operating -0 temps.

In this memo is actions FCA has taken towards warranty issues surrounding the 3.0. and its dealings with EPA.

I would love to see the source directly as I'm having a difficult time connecting EPA vs. FCA concerning warranty issues. No doubt the 3.0 has issues with spun bearings. I just don't see the connection with the EPA.

Good job TC. You brought some good to know information to this forum and I for one appreciate it. I'll say your presentation was a bit confusing but in any case it's all there if you search through the over 1000 emails.

might as well add this to TC's findings.

First and foremost to revise the calibration to reduce crankshaft bearing loads during low
rpm/high load conditions. These failures increased 61% May-July 2016 as compared to JanuaryMarch, 2016. The failures increased another 30% August-October, 2016 averaging 215/month.
We have been holding to clear the 2017 MY cert through your teams. We cannot wait any
longer with this frequency of failure.

Not sure if my previous post was clear. This is another FCA email to go along with what TC originally posted.

Anyone else surprised to see the failure rate at an average of 215/month? This is no longer speculation. it's according to the FCA email recently released.

Yep, it's an issue for sure. Now, how do they fix it? ...and will they fix it?

OAs is the only solution to indicate how well the rotating mass is performing.. its not 100% conclusive , trend will show wear metals.
FCA current and passed behavior is any indication they will need to Be forced to make correction in many cases.

Seem to be big problems with the DEF matching Service intervals, My question is WHY, the DEF is used and replaced on demand, Seems silly to Me the EPA was concerned

I just recieved this from the laywer looks like no buy backs for any one..

Good afternoon,

Many of you have contacted us about a Bloomberg report that the Department of Justice and Environmental Protection Agency have offered to settle a case against Fiat Chrysler for the EcoDiesel vehicles. That settlement, if reached, would be between Fiat Chrysler and the U.S. Government. Although that lawsuit alleges the same claims brought by Hagens Berman on behalf of consumers, it is a separate lawsuit. The consumer suit against Fiat Chrysler will continue even if the U.S. Government and Fiat Chrysler reach a settlement.

Currently, Fiat Chrysler is seeking EPA approval for a software modification that it says will bring the vehicles into compliance. Once that happens, and we see what effect the modification has on the vehicles, we can better estimate what we believe is owed to consumers.

Fiat Chrysler and Bosch have also asked the Court to dismiss the Plaintiffs’ claims. We have opposed the motions, and a hearing took place on December 19, 2017 in front of Judge Chen. We should have a decision shortly.

Many thanks,
Jessica
