Good reason to see SKT, HD Diesel, MRTuning, or find an old GDE aftermarket tune all of which will turn off the EGR. Additionally at that point you can get an EGR cooler delete kit. Our lovely EPA’s diesel emissions requirements sure have reeked a lot of havoc.

My EGR is leaking, dealer put me on a waiting list... its time to do the delete, I can buy the kit and physically do it myself, but the tuning is my question. Where and who? I have the GDE 2.0 tuner, will that help me retune? do I even have to retune? can I buy a new tuner kit? Can I buy a new ECU and just swap them? Any Ideas or help would be great, I topping off the coolant daily, I tried Aluma Seal to no avail.

thanks

I have 160k trouble free miles so far...except for tone ring failure that I had to pay for.

2016 I bought spring of 2020 with 45k miles. Only problems have been based on suspension. Silly me driving my truck on rough roads. Since then I have replaced shocks and struts (with better aftermarket shocks) and dealer had to replace a shock mounting bracket, it took 2.5 weeks in the shop for the part. This was followed by another trip down those silly rough roads I tend to drive, this time hauling my raft trailer, when my hubs blew. Had to tow it to a shop, fly my wife and kids home and me and the dog drove home in a rented uhaul with the gear and trailer in tow. After the dealer claimed the hubs are not apart of my warranty and the subsequent axle damage that was caused by the hubs were also not covered, I found an excellent shop near Boise ID. Talking to the mechanic, he partially blamed my troubles on the larger offset wheels and tires. Sure enough, my own research confirmed this. Since then I have also replaced the larger 20”x10”, -12 offset wheels that had 34.5”x12.5” tire with an oem spec +18 offset 18”x9” wheels and went back to a 33”x10.8” tire. Disclaimer, I’ve never had anything besides oem wheels, the larger wheels came with how the truck was set up by the original owner when I bought it.

Besides that no other issues… of course “that“ has been almost $5k in repair work and parts, not including silly things like the cost of towing, hotel room, flying my family, renting a uhaul, flying myself back to get the truck and not having my truck for a combined month’s time over the summer.

Just passed 60k miles, going strong.

2014 128,000 miles Standard recall stuff. Don't like the V08 emissions update's hit to my mpg and performance. Was perfect for a long time, but the MIL light just came on today. Hoping it's minor, but need to get someone to read the codes tomorrow.

Bought the truck in 2018 with 60,000.
GDE Tuned at 64,000
Zero issues. I've done zero of the recalls including the EGR recall. I probably should do the EGR recall, on the fence about it.

The engine is original. I run amsoil since it's 1st oil change, always been 15w40 always @ 9 to 10k changes as well. It had the gde epa tune for last 75k but recently had to change due to making some changes with the exhaust. It was 100% factory for 307k tho. I did forget it has a new trans as well, the tone ring went out and the dealership who replaced it didn't tighten a trans line or something and it puked the fluid out at night when I was on my way home and I never noticed till it was too late. The dealership tried to save the trans but in the end they replaced it, the lines and the thermocouple all for free. That happened just over 275k.
