hey thanks for the info. I did not even think about the oil filter collapsing. I know enough vehicle when break downs happen but as far as the real science of the internal functions of the engine, I'm more of a shade tree. my specialty is working on the Army helicopter's keeping those big boys in the air to cause damage when needed.

Carlosmarco, I take it routine hour required replacements on Wear parts on those helicopter's? I find it odd that Some ,boasting how durable the VM3.0 at failure would only disclosed what failed ,without further investigation on the rotating mass wear and condition.

I can't think of any owner that has Not step up demanding the exact cause. Even those that boasted have added to the mystery by NOT demanding answers.

Leaking EGR cooler @ 62000 miles

2016 Ram Limited Eco 33,000 no issues.
2015 Grand Cherokee Eco 48,000 in shop now to replace intake manifold

2016 limited . Got i new in Feb 2016 have 101000 on her. Had the Def tank changed in march of 2017 . Had the air compressor changed in jan of 2018 . I hear alot of air compressor failing in -30 Celsius up here in Saskatchewan Canada

2014 35000 miles just recalls, now CEL unsure of code. Battery voltage with key on shows 8 volts.

Since then, throttle position sensor and EGR replaced.

EGR coolant leak at approx 60k miles.
Throttle controller service light 98.7k miles (will be taking to dealership tomorrow)
Still happy with the truck, just need to get a few gremlins sorted...

Chris Roberts... Don't let the Dealers Hack Butcher Your ED ( Running good), like replacing major components over a simple fix.. 95% of the time TCS is related to dirty intake sensors. or dirty ERG/Plenum.

Thanks for the feedback and will mention this to the dealer. There seems to be limited experience with this engine at the dealerships I've visited. My EGR coolant leak was only detected because I suggested they check it due to comments I read on this forum. Will post results of TCS diagnostic when the dealer gets back to me.

2015 bought new from dealer in April of 2016 (steal of a price being an "older" truck)
Just got 50,000 miles on it
Had the "electronic throttle control" message pop up around 25-30k - dealership fixed under warranty and said a boost sensor failed. No issues since replacing.

Do my own oil changes and fuel filter replacements using Mopar products - hoping it lasts for me. Mostly freeway miles, do quite a bit of towing with our 35 foot travel trailer (little over 7k pounds)

Update: 87k plus miles. Target wheel on crankshaft tone ring went bad. Caused the truck to shut down. When trying to re start it would turn over but not start. Glad it’s still under warranty.

2014 Laramie Longhorn 4x4 bought used with 20K miles in 2016, now have 74K.
Recall on DPF and Catalyst, several Service Electronic Throttle message which, so far, has been a glitch or bad sensor connection, a couple of Intake Manifold Runner sensor low, which has been a bad connection and I am thinking about getting the wiring repair kit for the 5.7L gas engine recall to see if that might clear it for good. Still stock, once my extended warranty runs out I am looking at either the Green Diesel Eng tune or the Banks tuner. Awesome truck.
Wife's 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Outland, 3.0 ED. bought last year with 70K now has 97K. highway around 28mpg, 25mpg average.
Replaced Diesel Particulate Sensor, expensive as Dealer only item. Other than that an awesome vehicle with an awesome engine power train package.
